Sales Rumor: Killzone: Shadow Fall Surpasses 1 Million

Until the numbers are reported directly from a legitimate source, we'll call this a rumor.

But according to Insiderp, the PlayStation 4 launch title, Killzone: Shadow Fall, has sold over 1 million copies worldwide.

Supposedly, the number is from the NPD, GfK and other independent trackers in Asia and Western Europe. It also seems that around 27% of those sales can be attributed to PS4 bundle packages featuring Guerrilla's title. Additionally, the Xbox One launch title, Dead Rising 3, may have topped 600,000 copies worldwide. For the record, despite lower-than-expected review scores, Shadow Fall is undoubtedly the most popular PS4 launch game, so 1 million isn't out of the realm of possibility.

At last check, the PS4 had sold around 2.1 million consoles, so does this mean that nearly half the people who bought a PS4 also got the new Killzone? Well, maybe. If accurate, the 1 million mark was hit on December 20; there's no knowing how many PS4s had been sold as of that date.

In any case it's the best selling next gen game so far on either console. I'm looking forward to checking it out in a few days time. It's a shame so many devs are scared to release fully next gen games early on and do the lamo cross-gen thing. This shows you can still do well, now the game will have years to gain more and more ground.

I suppose it was a smart move launching with an FPS, then, particularly one with a name as well known as Killzone... Even though Ghosts has sold better, that's a really impressive figure. Go Sony, I guess, but I hope they remember that fans want more than FPS games.

It's especially given that they've sold around 2.5 million units to date. A 50% attach rate for any game is outstanding; even for a launch title that's amazing.
