2.) Intro
<=============================================================================>
 \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/

Alright, I've decided to write a weapons FAQ to complement my Boss guide. This
will include all the weapons, and specific information on each. Anyway, time
for the weapons. Note, I'm not putting any armor in this, yet.

Because I'm basing this off the JP version of the game, names and descriptions
may slightly differ.

Another thing to take into consideration is that my "additional notes", and my
weapon ratings section for each weapon contains my opinion. please don't send
me E-mails arguing about whether weapon "X" is useful, the main purpose of
this FAQ is to give you the stats of the weapons.

<=============================================================================>
5.) Guns
<=============================================================================>
 \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/

I will be listing guns (and grenades) in a certain format. Here's an
explanation.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#. name: weapon number then name of gun/grenade
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: the name of the "weapon file" (pstl.arm, etc.)
found in: what sector and stage the weapon is found in
attribute: Attribute of weapon (light, physic)
Effective against: What types of enemy the weapon's effective against (taken
from the weapons database in the game).
capacity: Ammo capacity of weapon
usefulness: my personal grade (1 to 10) how useful the weapon/grenade is
description: the description from the game (the weapons database)
additional notes: anything I want to add

time to start

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Pistol
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: PSTL.arm
found in: Training sector
attribute: Physic
effective against: Soldiers
capacity: 280
usefulness: 8/10
description: A standard automatc handgun. Cost effective weapon made in China.
Used mostly as side arms.
additional notes: One of the essential weapons to max out to ver. 6, be sure
to make it a priority.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Laser Pistol
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Laser_PSTL.arm
found in: Sector 1 ruins
attribute: Light
effective against: Bugs
capacity: 250
usefulness: 5/10
description: Plasma-discharging handgun. While it cannot fire rapidly, charged
shots allow for more effective results.
additional notes: Meh, useful if you're running out of ammo for other weapons.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Bolt Pistol
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Bolt_PSTL.arm
found in: Sector 1 city
attribute: Electricity
effective against: Bots
capacity: 250
usefulness: 6/10
description: Releases a high-voltage electrical charge at the target. The
discharge is not powerful, but can partially disable most enemies.
additional notes: Get's an extra point because it's incredibly useful for those
giant biped robots.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Virus Pistol
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Virus_PSTL.arm
found in: Sector 2 ruins
attribute: Virus
effective against: Most enemies except Bots and Virus-types
capacity: 250
usefulness: 8/10
description: Handgun that shoots viral rounds infecting the target. Viral
effect is gradual and continues until target is disabled.
additional notes: Well, my feelings have changed on this weapon, my previous
opinion was incorrect. The virus pistol's "virus" effect still might not be
tha apparent, but when this weapon is maxed out it has very high offense for a
pistol. It does a good amount of damage, and the virus effect can be considered
a bonus against mostly soldiers (although it still doesn't seem to want to work
well for me). I still prefer the original pistol, but this one is more useful
than I originally thought. Max it out to ver. 6, so you always have a backup,
or if you want, a replacement for the original pistol.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Assault Rifle
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Assault_RFL.arm
found in: Sector 1 base
attribute: Physic
effective against: Soldiers
capacity: 400
usefulness: 9/10
description: Standard fully automatic rifle. An essential weapon when entering
the system
additional notes: Very useful, like the pistol one of the weapons you should
max out to ver. 6 ASAP.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Sniper Rifle
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Sniper_RFL.arm
found in: Sector 1 city
attribute: Physic
effective against: Soldiers
capacity: 55
usefulness: 7/10
description: Rifle equipped with zooming functions allowing targeting from a
long distance. Can only load 6 rounds at a time.
additional notes: Pretty useful weapon (smaller brother of the Neutron gun),
may not be used very much, but can get you out of tight spots.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Shotgun
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Shotgun.arm
found in: Sector 1 ruins
attribute: Physic
effective against: Soldiers
capacity: 99
usefulness: 10/10
description: Powerful when used at close range. Not as powerful at longer
ranges but can be fired at multiple targets.
additional notes: Best. weapon. period. Max out to ver. 6 as soon as you can.
Good for enemies and bosses, large ammo capacity (considering power), able to
take most later enemies out in 1 or 2 shots.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. Pulse Rifle
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Pulse_RFL.arm
found in: Sector 2 ruins
attribute: Light
effective against: Bugs
capacity:
usefulness: 5/10
description: The aliens' main weapon of choice. It is similar to the laser
PSTL, but far more powerful.
additional notes: Once again a weapon to use when your running low on ammo for
others.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9. Photon MG
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Photon_MG.arm
found in: Sector 2 ruins
attribute: Light
effective against: Bugs
capacity: 400
usefulness: 7/10
description: A light-based firearm allowing for rapid-firing plasma. This
plasma can hit multiple targets at once.
additional notes: Pretty good rapid firing weapon, good for your fight with the
boss enforcer, and a pretty good Assualt Rifle substitute.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10. Lightning
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Lightning.arm
found in: Sector 2 city
attribute: Electricity
effective against: Bots
capacity: 500
usefulness: 7/10
description: This powerful weapon releases an extremely high voltage arc. A
continuous discharge is possible due to its high-capacity generator.
additional notes: I don'tuse it much, still have it at ver. 1, but when leveled
up has possibilities.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11. Salamander
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Salamander.arm
found in: Sector 3 (infinity) level 8?
attribute: Heat
effective against: Some enemies
capacity: 500
usefulness: 6/10
description: A flamethrower efective against bug-type enemies. The only
drawback is that its range is very limited.
additional notes: I don't like it, leveled up it has potential, but it's close
range limits it, and I prefer the shotgun as a close ranged weapon.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12. Copperhead
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Copperhead.arm
found in: Sector 2 ruins (from boss)
attribute: Virus
effective against: Most enemies except Bots and Virus-types.
capacity: 500
usefulness: 4/10
description: Emits pressurized viral gas. The virus itself is powerful but its
range is limited. Named after the poisonous snake of the same name.
additional notes: Ehh, virus status is pretty useless in itself, its range
makes it worse, and ammo will run out pretty quickly.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
13. Grenade Launcher
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Grenade_LCH.arm
found in: Sector 2 base
attribute: Physic
effective against: Soldiers
capacity: 60
usefulness: 7/10
description: A weapon that launches small-sized frag grenades. They may not be
as powerful as hand grenades but can be fired further.
additional notes: Not bad, upgrade it and it has some potential, much easier to
aim and use then a frag grenade.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
14. Plasma Launcher
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Plasma_LCH.arm
found in: Sector 2 ruins
attribute: Light
effective against: Bugs
capacity: 50
usefulness: 7/10
description: A weapon that launches small-sized plasma grenades which can
attach onto enemy targets. The grenade then explodes and discharges plasma
energy after a few seconds.
additional notes: Same as grenade launcher, not bad, grenades can stick to
enemies, so that makes up for the slow fuse.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
15. Bolt Launcher
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Bolt_LCH.arm
found in: Sector 2 city
attribute: Electricity
effective against: Bots
capacity: 50
usefulness: 7/10
description: A weapon that launches a small sized bolt grenade which can attach
onto enemy targets. The grenade then explodes and discharges electricity after
a few seconds. Useful when fighting against bots.
additional notes: Same as Plasma launchers, decent weapon when leveled up.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
16. Napalm Launcher
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Napalm_LCH.arm
found in: Sector 2 city
attribute: Heat
effective against: Some enemies.
capacity: 50
usefulness: 8/10
description: A weapon that launches small-sized napalm grenades. They may not
be as powerful as napalm grenades, but have a much greater range.
additional notes: Of all the launchers, I like this one the most. It has good
power, can launch an enemy soldier into the air with one shot, and spreads
flames everywhere. I love it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
17. RPG
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: RPG.arm
found in: Sector 2 base
attribute: Physic
effective against: Soldiers
capacity: 50
usefulness: 9/10
description: A standard rocket launcher. The rockets explode with a large blast
radius.
additional notes: Upgrade to ver. 6, this is a very useful weapon. The themed
verions of it (judgement, inferno, onslaught) have more power, but I prefer the
RPG over them. This is a weapon you should never be without, great for
soldiers, great for the boss colossus.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
18. Judgement
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Judgement.arm
found in: Sector 2 city (from boss)
attribute: Electricity
effective against: Bots
capacity: 50
usefulness: 8/10
description: Launches a single electrically-charged warhead which explodes and
releases a high-voltage arc-discharge upon impact. Can cause both physical and
electrical damage to target.
additional notes: Meh, as is with all "themed" weapons, you run the risk of
this being ineffective against some enemy types. I prefer the RPG.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
19. Inferno
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Inferno.arm
found in: Sector 2 base (from boss)
attribute: Heat
effective against: Some enemies
capacity: 50
usefulness: 7/10
description: Launches a napalm rocket which explodes and engulfs the area in
flame.
additional notes: Great for dealing with swarms of flies, takes care of them in
one shot. Pretty much inferior to the RPG for anything else.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
20. Onslaught
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Onslaught.arm
found in: Sector 3 (infinity) level 10 (from boss)
attribute: Virus
effective against: Most enemies except Bots and Virus-types.
capacity: 50
found in: Infinity mode, level 10.
usefulness: 8/10
description: Launches a rocket filled with virus capsules which explode and
release virus into the surrounding area.
additional notes: High offense, although I prefer the RPG. Includes a virus
effect, but to be honest, most will be wiped out by the blast of the rocket.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
21. Vulcan
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Vulcan.arm
found in: Sector 3 (infinity) level 20 (from boss)
attribute: Physic
effective against: Soldiers
capacity: 999
usefulness: 10/10
description: Rapid-firing chaingun. No reloading required. Not as accurate due
to its rapid-firing capabilities.
additional notes: I love this gun. It's extremely high ammo capacity, its
ability to reduce all the bosses to shreds, its effectiveness against
practically every enemy. Be sure to use short bursts with this weapon, upgrade
it to ver. 6, watch your ammo, and this game will become much easier.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
22. Neutron gun
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Neutron_gun.arm
found in: Sector 3 (infinity) level 30 (from boss)
attribute: Light
effective against: Bugs
capacity:24
found in: Infinity mode, level 30.
usefulness: 8/10
description: Sniper rifle that emits a high output plasma beam. The beam has
infinite range and damages all targets in its path. Rate of fire is slow.
additional notes: Bigger brother to the sniper rifle, when the level is maxed
its offense peaks at 1344 (!!!). Useful for taking out rooms of soldiers when
your health is low. If you like sniping, definitely max out this weapon

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
23. Trident
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Trident.arm
found in: Sector 3 (infinity) level 60 (from boss)
attribute: electricity
effective against: Bots
capacity: 99
found in: Infinity level 60.
usefulness: ???/??? (I haven't gotten use to this weapon)
description: Rocket launcher with homing capabilities. Hold the attack button
to lock onto the target and release the button to fire. Named after the weapon
of neptune, Greek god of the sea.
additional notes: I'm not to sure about this weapon, it sure took a hell of a
lot of work to unlock it, and I only have it a ver. 4. Seems like a good weapon
although I'm pretty sure I haven't unlocked its potential yet. Has homing
functions, probably the only weapon that does (not counting the pulse rifle and
the laser pistol, which only have slight homing abilities).

 /---------------------------------------------------------------------------\
<=============================================================================>
6.) Grenades
<=============================================================================>
 \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/

Alright, heres the deal. I'm going to list the grenades, but leave out a
personal rating. I'll also leave out capacity, since you can carry 20 grenades
max, for each type.

The reason I'm leaving out a personal usefulness rating is because...well
grenades suck. Yes that's how I feel, except for some rare cases where they do
things other weapons can't (honeypot, landmine) they're horrible. They're hard
to aim, have a slow fuse, and despite the damage they do, the various lanchers
are much better.

Time to list em.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Frag Grenade
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Frag_gre.cbx
found in: Training Sector
attribute: Physic
effective against: soldiers
description: A standard grenade. Explodes a few seconds after release.
additional notes: Just liek the description says, standard grenade. Only useful
to me early in the game, before you find weapons like the grenade launcher and
RPG.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Plasma Grenade
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Plasma_gre.cbx
found in: Sector 2 ruins
attribute: Light
effective against: Bugs
description: Plasma energy-based grenade. Explodes a few seconds after release,
dispersing high amounts of plasma energy.
additional notes: Outperformed by the plasma launcher.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Bolt Grenade
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Bolt_GRE.cbx
found in: Sector 2 city
attribute: Electricity
effective against: Bots
description: Electrically-charged grenade that contains a compact ion reactor.
Meltdown occurs a few seconds after release, instantaneously discharging
high-voltage electricity.
additional notes: Ourperformed by Bolt Launcher.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Napalm Grenade
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Napalm_GRE.cbx
found in: Sector 2 base
attribute: Heat
effective against: Some enemies.
description: Napalm grenade containing a highly flammable substance. Explodes a
few seconds after release, engulfing the area in flames.
additional notes: Once again outperformed by the launcher of the same name.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Virus Grenade
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Virus_GRE.cbx
found in: Sector 2 ruins
attribute: Virus
effective against: Most enemies except Bots and Virus-types
description: A logic-altering grenade that disperses a virus for a few seconds
after release. Viral infection is most likely when targets are close to the
point of impact.
additional notes: Another useless grenade, although since there is no "virus
launcher", I guess this one is kind of unique. Virus effect included.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Link Grenade
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Link_GRE.cbx
found in: Sector 1 base
attribute: Physic
effective against: Soldiers
description: Grenade that can attach onto enemy targets. Explodes a few seconds
after release. Guarantees damage to the intended target.
additional notes: Considering grenades, this is actually a pretty useful one.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Landmine
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Landmine.cbx
found in: Sector 2 base
attribute: Physic
effective against: Soldiers
description: Projectile land mine. Micro sensors are activated upon release.
Explodes after detecting targets in range.
additional notes: Except for a few rare occasions, not to be used.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. Cluster Grenade
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Cluster_GRE.cbx
found in: Sector 3 (infinity) level 5?
attribute: Physic
effective against: Soldiers
description: Grenade containing clusters of small bombs. Explodes a few seconds
after release, dispersing the small bombs and causing further explosions.
additional notes: Another one of the grenades that may actually be used from
time to time.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9. Honeypot
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Honeypot.cbx
found in: Sector 2 base
attribute: N/A
effective against: N/A
description: Special grenade containing a dummy data of the user. Upon
explosion, the bug is distracted and ignores the actual user. Only effective
for a few seconds.
additional notes: Interesting unique idea. Have I ever used one? No. But it
sounds like it could create a few strategic battles.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10. Chaff Grenade
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: Chaff_GRE.cbx
found in: Sector 1 city
attribute: N/A
effective against: N/A (that's what it says in the database, but it's only
effective against Bots)
description: Special grenade that temporarily malfunctions the Bot's radar
systems. Only effective for a few seconds.
additional notes: The last grenade, and the last one that's actually useful for
some kind of occasion. I remember someone mentioning using these against the
boss Enforcer. Also used in combination with the bolt pistol against the biped
robots.

 /---------------------------------------------------------------------------\
<=============================================================================>
7.) Armor
<=============================================================================>
 \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/

Here's how armor will be listed:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#. name
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
file name: name of the file from the weapons database
attribute: attribute of armor (whichever attribute an armor has, in addition to
the defense it provides it will also be strong against arms that share the same
attribute, for instance armor with the heat attribute will take some of the
damage away if a soldier shoots an inferno rocket at you).
description: description of the weapon from the weapons database
defense: defense of the armor

Time to get started.

8.) Misc
<=============================================================================>
 \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/

A few little miscellaneous bits of info.

Lets start of with my favorite weapons

-shotgun (powerful, plentiful ammo, and...well... powerful)(ver. 6)
-vulcan (quick, tons of ammo, no reloading)(ver. 6)
-napalm launcher (heh, I like the reloading motion =), plus it's quite
powerful(ver. 5)
-RPG (very powerful, good for clumps of enemies, and colossus)(ver. 5)
-neutron gun (super powerful sniper rifle)(ver. 6)

And then a list of the weapons you should upgrade to level 6 as soon as you can

-the pistol
-the shotgun
-the RPG (or any of the themed RPG's)
-the vulcan (quite annoying, to upgrade it to ver. 6 takes 99 weapons upgrades,
and by that I mean 99 upgrades JUST to level it from ver. 5 to 6)
-the neutron gun, if you like sniping (annoying for the same reason as the
vulcan)

And finally the armor I have equipped

Helmet - Ballistic Helmet
Jacket - Surge Jacket
Leg Guards - Antivirus Leg Guards

Alright then, that's it for the quite opinionated and pretty useless misc
section.

9.) Frequently asked questions
<=============================================================================>
 \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/

Here I'll answer the most frequently asked questions. To find a question
quickly search for it's ID (if I wanted to find question 3 I'd search for Q03.

(Q01) - How do you acquire weapons/grenades/armor?
(Q02) - I keep running out of ammo, what do I do?
(Q03) - What is infinity mode?
(Q04) - So it really is infinite?
(Q05) - How does the weapon upgrade system work?
(Q06) - What is the max version of a weapon?
(Q07) - What does upgrading a weapon do?
(Q08) - Is there anyway I can increase ammo capacity/accuracy/quickness of a
        weapon?
(Q09) - What is the best weapon?
(Q10) - Why do you hate grenades so much?
(Q11) - I don't like what you said about weapon "X". Change it now.
(Q12) - I want to contribute something. How do I do that?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Q01)
Q: How do you acquire weapons/grenades/armor?

A: Weapons are usually, if not always acquired from gate keepers (the soldiers
with a blue or red aura around them). I'm pretty sure they can also be
acquired from some enemies in lockdown rooms. Grenades can be found in the
same way, although they might also be found in destructable objects. Pretty
much any soldier drops armor from what I've seen.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Q02)
Q: I keep running out of ammo, what do I do?

A: Level up some other weapons for this purpose. For instance, I have my pistol
and my virus pistol both at ver. 6, so If my pistol (primary arm), runs out
of ammo I can switch to my virus pistol. It's always a good idea to keep a
large variety of weapons handy, so you don't run out of ammo.

You can also use a selective arms strategy, that Hotsuma_son invented. He
should have a FAQ about it out pretty soon.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Q03)
Q: What is infinity mode?

A: It's a sector (sector 3), that s unlocked after beating all the bosses in
sector 2. It goes on forever, although the last weapon (the trident) is
found on level 60 of infinity.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Q04)
Q: So it really is infinite?

A: Supposedly. The farthest I've heard of someone getting is level 251 (he is
   cokeethlo on gamefaqs).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Q05)
Q: How does the weapon upgrade system work?

A: Enemies will periodically drop weapon upgrades (red tetrahedron things).
When you run over an upgrade, it will be added to the current weapon you
are holding. After you collect a certain amount of upgrades you weapon will
level up (levels are called versions).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Q06)
Q: What is the max version of a weapon?

A: 6. For every weapon. ALWAYS.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Q07)
Q: What does upgrading a weapon do?

A: Increases it's offense. Offense is the damage that each bullet of a weapon
does (this is why the Shotgun and Vulcan are so powerful).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Q08)
Q: Is there anyway I can increase ammo capacity/accuracy/quickness of a weapon?

A: No, if you mean permanantly increasing one of these things. However since
weapons have recoil, rapid fire weapons will be more accurate if fired in
short bursts (Vulcan, Assault Rifle). Also weapons that fire proectiles that
spread out (Shotgun, Trident), will be more accurate at close range.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Q09)
Q: What is the best weapon?

A: No definite answer, all opinion. IMO it would be either the shotgun (it's
so damn devastating at close, and even mid range), or the Vulcan (powerful,
   quick, and no reload time).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Q10)
Q: Why do you hate grenades so much?

A: They're hard to aim, slow to explode, and out performed by other weapons.
The only exception is unique grenades, like the honeypot and chaff grenade,
   which can be quite useful.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Q11)
Q: I don't like what you said about weapon "X". Change it now.

A: Short answer: No, I don't care.

Long answer: If you send me an email that rationally explains that you feel
I judged a weapon unfairly and explain why, I will consider changing it. Do
not send me hatemail, it gets really annoying, and believe me, it happens
   frequently.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Q12)
Q: I want to contribute something. How do I do that?

A: Drop me an email: ksigdat@gmail.com, and try to make the subect
   recognizable.
