Hitman Movie Rakes In $21 Million On Opening Weekend

Well, here's more proof that it simply doesn't matter what the critics say; teenage boys everywhere will always pay to see outrageously stupid movies provided there's enough violence and nudity.

Hitman is one of the most popular video game franchises in history, so when 20th Century Fox announced they were making a movie adaptation, none of us were shocked. We were, however, a little worried when we learned "Deadwood" star Timothy Olyphant took over the lead role (originally designed for Vin Diesel) and unproven director Xavier Gens took the director's chair. Of course, he couldn't possibly be as bad as Uwe Boll, but still... It seems Fox needn't have worried, though, as Variety reports that "Hitman" raked in $21 million over the Thanksgiving weekend. Yes, it's true.

It's a more significant number when we take into account the competition; Disney's "Enchanted" ($50 million) and the far-superior-to-"Hitman" movie, "Beowulf" ($23.3 million), for example. Good news, we guess, but we can't really recommend a film that gets panned this badly. Let's just hope the critics are wrong about this one.
