Chains Of Olympus Sex Scene To Spark Media Uproar?

Here we go again. Due to the ongoing - and voluntary - ignorance of the mainstream media, yet another title is probably going to spark yet another uproar. This time, and only a short while after the Mass Effect sexual theme debate has died down, the focus is squarely on God of War: Chains of Olympus for the PSP.

The game is guaranteed to be fantastic; there's no doubt about that (stay tuned for another close-up, hands-on from us). But sexual themes are once again quite evident, as MonstersandCritics describes the setting-

"With one maiden on all-fours and the other openly topless, the game camera moves away from the ensuing ‘action,’ focusing on a nearby candle that rocks and shakes as the player performs button prompts and analogue stick movements to govern the impact of each suggested thrust being experienced by the young women.

"To make matters worse, the game’s audio builds to a crescendo of orgasmic moans should the player time their button presses and stick swirls correctly. Then, once spent, the camera moves back to Kratos who, without even leaving his mobile number, is free to continue with his quest -- or engage in another session of fleshy entanglement should the player so desire."

The article goes on to point out that besides the nudity, the player never actually sees anything sexual going on. This reminded us a great deal of the sex scene in the original God of War for the PS2, in fact. But as always, we're confused as to why this should generate any attention whatsoever... The game is rated "M" for Mature. That means it's a restricted title for those under the age of 17, just like a rated "R" movie. There are movies with this rating that are borderline pornographic. Clearly, neither product would be designed for - or marketed to - children. What exactly is the problem, here? Oh, they'll find one. The anti-game activists always do.

...that comment is meant to be humorous, I'm pretty sure. At least, I would hope it is.

I know. I hope it was joke, too. If it wasn't a joke, someone needs help! lol

Both of the other GOW games had this in it, nobody saw fit to mention it then, having this scene just seems like a running joke through out the series.
I can't help but feel this sort of thing is partly Nintendo's fault for keeping the kiddie image alive, but mainly ignorant berks

Well I just got to it, and it's at the very beginning of the game. It's implicit - you don't see a thing. And if people go crazy over this, wow...I fear for this industry. The girls ARE naked, though. But we've seen nude chicks in GOW before.

I agree that this is a pointless issue. As you say it's an M rated game so they can pretty much put in what they want and that's exactly the way it should be. We have 18 rated movies in the UK with graphic sex yet this (to be 18 rated) game comes under such scrutiny when the sex isn't visible at all? Give me a break.
