SOE Publishing GripShift and Frantix

Sony Online Entertainment Inc. today announced that it will distribute two new titles for the PSP portable entertainment system, GripShift and FRANTIX. Developed from the ground-up specifically for the PSP portable system, both games are scheduled to be available Fall 2005.

GripShift is one of the first video games for the PSP system to combine high-flying stunt driving and unique puzzle-solving action in an all-out, pedal-to-the-metal racing experience. Players will race as one of six unique characters in souped-up, customizable vehicles as they stunt their way through insane twisting levels while collecting power-ups, avoiding traps, and beating the clock. Featuring more than 100 levels of puzzle-like challenges in fun, vibrant environments, and additional bonus games, players can race solo or with up to three other players via the PSP system's built-in wireless feature.

With unlockable racing circuits, bonus games and the ability to create custom tracks with the in-game Track Editor and share them wirelessly with other players, GripShift offers an original and compelling gameplay experience for the PSP system. The game is being developed by Sidhe Interactive, an up and coming New Zealand-based developer that recently received a $55,000 grant from the NZ government to fund the game's development. The music in GripShift will include several tracks from New Zealand artists, including the hip-hop group Misfits of Science.

Meanwhile, FRANTIX is a character-based 3D puzzle-solving adventure. Developed by Killer Game, FRANTIX offers frenzied puzzle-solving action, beautiful 3D graphics, more than 150 challenging levels for players to enjoy, power pick-ups, and a diverse array of monsters and unique obstacles. The game features quick-paced action, surreal environments and challenging levels with deadly traps and dangerous hazards for an extremely fun and captivating gameplay experience.

"We are pleased to bring two original and exciting titles produced by some very talented developers to fans of the PSP system," said Chris Sturr, Senior Brand Manager, Sony Online Entertainment. "GripShift is an original break-through combination of stunt driving, platform and puzzle action that is sure to thrill, while Frantix will put even the most skilled puzzle-solver to the test with action that is easy to pick-up, but hard to put down."
