PSP-3000, Possible Features Rumored
We recently learned that the PSP would stick around for another seven years in a continued lifecycle, which means the snazzy handheld should go through several more incarnations before all is said and done. Hence, the PSP-3000 is on everyone's lips; the rumor is spreading like wildfire throughout the Internet.
We have no doubt another PSP is on the way, but there is no official information as of yet, so all of the following is nothing more than speculation. However, we're willing to bet that at least one - if not more - of the discussed features will be featured in the new PSP, and they're all intriguing. For example, the new handheld design could boast dual analog sticks, which is a very popular rumor and one that is connected to PS2 and PS1 software. If you see analog sticks, publishers may have a field day delivering those old games to the PSP, right? We've also heard plenty involving Bluetooth technology, touch screen, and integrated GPS. The touch screen idea actually isn't new; this rumor appeared towards the end of last year.
We may also see more RAM, rumble coming with the dual analog sticks, an HDMI port and our personal favorite, PS2 emulation. Can you imagine if that became a feature for the PSP? It seems a little illogical - and in some respects, almost impossible - but it's still fun to hope. We'll let you know whenever Sony issues anything official regarding a new PSP model, that's for sure.

@reccaman: you misunderstand why ps2 emulation isn't possible. the ps2 is more powerful than the psp. You can't emulate something that the hardware can't keep up with.

I'm still pissed that I have to buy a new PSP 2000 for some of the features that won't be on PSP 1000. I want the tv antenna and the video out for the PSP that I have, Sony always said they would keep involving the PSP, I always thought that meant with the PSP that I got on launch and not with new models. Imagine they did this with PS3 and we had to buy a new PS3 for the tv recorder, then in the future more PS3 with hardware changes come out that allow it to have better features the current one don't. We woouldn't be happy.

PSP Slim:
333MHz Processor
64MB of RAM
4MB of Embedded DRAM
PS2 Slim
300MHz processor
32MB of RDRAM (Direct Rambus)
4MB of Embedded DRAM
so, can you explain how the PS2 is more powerful when it has a slower processor and less memory?

PS2 Emu wont happen. I dont know if they would waste their time downscalling so many games or bother putting them on umd's. Downloads are out of the question unless they assume everybody has a huge mem stick. Plus not many people are just going sit and dl 1.5 gigs of info for every game they buy. Homebrew MAYBE.
And rumble?.... uh, battery eater.

Oi!! I just hope that this will dive down prices across the board... maybe I'll be a new one in a year or so, maybe not... depends on what it has and what it can do and what it costs.
