PSP News: Armored Core: Formula Front Becomes Game

Armored Core: Formula Front Becomes Game

Agetec revealed yesterday that the North American version of Armored Core: Formula Front will actually let players control the mechs they create.

The Japanese version was a hands-off strategy game that only allowed players to outfit their mechs and specify A.I. controlled behaviors. Battles then played out automatically.

Agetec and From Software are "re-developing" the game to include single-player challenges and a wifi multiplayer mode. Gameplay will primarily involve arena style combat, which may disappoint longtime fans of the franchise's mission-based setup. On the other hand, transforming the game into a fully-playable robot fighting game sure makes a heck of a lot more sense than releasing it as a strategy-based "movie viewer." Sales of the Japanese game were disappointing... to say the least.

The one downside is that the game's release date has now been pushed back from June to September.
