Dissidia Gets Dated, Versus XIII To Have Simultaneous Release

We're keeping a close watch on the Square-Enix news coming out of their DKS3713 private party, and here's some of the latest:

The highly anticipated PSP title, Dissidia: Final Fantasy has been confirmed for a December release in Japan. We still don't know when it'll arrive in North America, but perhaps you can use Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII as a possible measuring stick... Next up, it has also been confirmed that the PlayStation 3 exclusive, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, will enjoy a simultaneous worldwide release, but sadly, we have no idea when that might be. No release date has been provided for the game just yet, but we're hoping it's not too far off; it's yet another promising-looking FF game for the new generation. In fact, they just showed off a brand new trailer for Versus XIII at the event, which we expect to see pop up on the Internet very soon. Lastly, if you want to keep an eye on the action over the course of this weekend, you can try this translated live blog of the event.

Obviously, if anything big arrives - 'cough FFVII remake or sequel 'cough' - we'll be sure to tell you. We won't keep it to ourselves, honest! Hell, we'll type it so fast, our fingers will bleed... Stay tuned!

Boring

FFXIII Versus will go multiplat as it nears release date.

Doesn't make sense to make FFXIII multiplat and keep Versus exclusive.

Just watch Square-Enix spit on ps3 user's faces :D

Scarecrow: With the way S-E is, its a possibility...

Still missing characters from 5,6,7 (yes I know sephiroth was announced but no one else) and 12 but I guess with 4 months left they might just announce a new set every month?

Despite FFXI being an Online game, I kinda wish there was a create-a-character system in Dissidia with their jobs and/or armour sets... (Would be nice...)

"August 2, 2008 in Tokyo, Square Enix held a private event "DK Σ3713" released in shock! Blu-ray video work on sale in the Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete, the software for the PlayStation 3, Final Fantasy XIII demo version that is included in the announcement."
This was what was on that live blog. Please tell me this isn't the shocking announcement that their claiming it to be...

True, but I guess in saying that, Square Enix would lose a lot of peoples respect. And thats something they can't really afford to do with PS3 owners...

To tell you the truth I'm actually a little more excited for versus than XIII. The XIII trailer was all kind of awesome but there really hasn't been any new footage for over a year now. The one and only Versus trailer I saw with the guy on the stairs in the trench was just totally badass, and definitely put it on my must buy list.

Me too, I'm so excited on Versus than XIII. One reason is because Versus is MATURE rated =D There's blood, gore, and "things" ... something like GTA4, but not as heavy as GTA4! Yay! Versus better stay as an exclusive game for PS3 ...

If you're sarcastic, that's horrible...

If you're not, WKC is a PS3 game announced back in like TGS'06, I think?

Its been under the radar for so long I guess I can't blame people for not hearing about it or forgetting it.

As much as I hate to say it, I'm just not as excited about FFXIII as I used to be... and yeah Versus looks great, wonder how the combat system works?

I WAS excited about White Knight Chronicles, until it totally feel off the map. :(
I haven't really heard and definitely haven't seen anything outside the original showing. Not much left to get excited about until I see something new, but I was at one point. I love Level 5 games.( I believe it was them)
