FCC Filing Confirms PSP-3000?

When the PSP-2000 - or PSP Slim - came out to replace the original PSP model last year, sales immediately spiked and continued to climb in following weeks. These days, the PSP is sitting pretty in Japan and keeps climbing in all major territories. Therefore, we'd have to conclude the redesign was successful, and Sony has always said it won't be the last...

Therefore, we've had plenty of rumors revolving around the possibility of another PSP revamping; the PSP-3000 rumor is one that has built up steam since the start of the summer. Now, according to information located by Exophase, it seems a recent FCC listing has semi-confirmed the existence of a new Sony handheld model. After taking a look at the listing, you can begin to get excited, because it would make sense for Sony to release the new PSP in time for the holiday season. They did it last year with the PSP-2000, right? And while this doesn't confirm any leaked pics of a new PSP - those remain completely unofficial and unconfirmed - this listing should prove to all that Sony isn't sitting on their laurels and leisurely riding the higher and stronger PSP wave.

There's a chance this new PSP may get announced at the Leipzig Games Convention this month or at the Tokyo Game Show in September. If that unveiling arrives, we'll be one of the first to let you know about it. In the meantime, feel free to speculate as to what a redesigned handheld might feature...

LOL personally I'll do good with a second analog stick and R2 & R3 and L2 & L3 buttons, and as an added bonus maybe some pressure sensitivity ;)

Yeah I would definitly like a 2nd analog, not sure about L2 and R2 those I dunno I ever felt necessary for FPS games on the PSP. Would make it easier with a 2nd analog tho. I would like an updated flash player and a easier download and watch video method for it as well instead of just mp4 files. Touch screen would be sexy...and maybe a less smudge attracting finish?

Um, why not connect to an HD TV? It seems kinda silly to make a feature that is totally unnecessary.

I am confused as to why they are putting out a new system when they just came out with the 2000! I too, would rather see some new games. I just bought the new 2000 and now it will be outdated??? Good grief! It is like a computer, impossible to keep up with new technology. When are they going to put out the GPS, Phone

Yeah this is a bit frustrating. I always like to have the latest things even tho I know I should've never really bought the slim. Only thing I want and I don't care if it's the only thing new is a second analog stick. Why is it so hard to make another one. I don't care, make the PSP fatter again if you need to just do it!

I dont think its another PSP I really thinks its just a change around of a few inside components....Sony would be stupid to release another redisign so quickly....Wow the H.I.M dude is back.

I really hope you're right. I bought my PSP-2000 last year and I'd still be PO'd if Sony came out with a massively improved (or even substantially improved) PSP this year. Agreed on bringing out more games, instead.

Ya the FCC filing confirms no new features and an identical outside look to the console. It seems like just cost-cutting new components. Nothing to see here folks.

I don't think they will add a second analog stick, coz then the newer games wont work on the older PSP's.

So to have the latst features for PSP you need to sell your PSP 2000 and buy a PSP 3000, are Sony going to continue to do this? I think its unfair. Sony said the PSP will keep envolving, when they said this I thought they meant that the current model would keep envolving and not you must buy another PSP. I want the features from the PSP 2000 without needing to buy a new PSP. If there is to be a PSP 3000, I would want the features from that.
At least with my mobile I get a free upgrade to the latest model every year.

Just got the GoW version, ads running for the Blue one.... don't do this Sony! Although, now that we can put companion DVD movies and PSN content on it.... how much space does the content need (i.e. PSN download/DVD electronic copy content)?
