NPD July 08 System Sales: PS3 Still Above X360
So, we've now passed the half-year mark for 2008, and one critical element has yet to change in the sales of videogame hardware: the Xbox 360 has yet to outsell the PlayStation 3 this year. For the seventh straight month, the PlayStation 3's momentum continues as the system outsold the Xbox 360 by 20k units. Sony's PS3 took in 225k sold, and the PSP followed closely with 222k sold. The Xbox 360 trails in the distance with 205k, and the PlayStation 2 continues to stay alive with 155k.
See Full ImageThe behemoths that are the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii are still leading the pack, as both units continue to appeal to an audience far more casual than that of the PS3 and X360. The DS sold another 608k handhelds, and the Wii moved 555k. Below are the hardware numbers in order.
