PSP Firmware 5.0 Details
Just like the PlayStation 3, the PSP has just gotten its due firmware update, and this one is numero cinco-punto-cero -- that's 5.0, folks. Our little portable wonder has come a long way, and yet the firmware updates keep on coming. Believe it or not, there are still some cool features left to squeeze out the PSP.For starters, owners who frequently visit the PlayStation Store for their PSP via PC or PS3 can now visit the store directly from their PSP while it's connected to the internet. Downloadable games, demos, trailers, and other content will no longer have to go through your PC or PS3, as you'll be able to store straight into your PSP's memory-stick.
To add to the online fun, when you're using the PSP's online capabilities, an on-screen QWERTY keyboard is now an option as a method of text input, for more convenient web browsing. Then there's the Sleep Timer feature, which will let the PSP screen shut-off after a certain amount of time.
We're not sure if that means the screen will turn off, or the system shuts off...but I suppose you guys will find out soon enough. Lastly, enhancements to the PSP-2000's video out now enables PlayStation games to be played at the full-screen size of the TV, as well as supporting interlaced (non-HD) TVs.

I'm really looking forward to the PS Store functionality the most. Does this mean PSP stuff will only be on the PSP PS Store and taken off of the PS3 Store, or is it exactly the same store minus PS3 stuff?
