Sony Rumors: SOCOM, MAG, Infamous, Resistance: Retribution
Typically, rumors that begin with "a trusted source" are iffy; it usually depends on the situation, but sometimes, the information can be nearly 100% accurate.
The latest batch of Sony-related rumors comes from Ripten's "trusted source," who starts off with the most likely of the rumors, which is that Trophies will soon be coming to SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation. This is a near guarantee in the first place, but we imagine the developers will further stabilize the Network play before that update drops. Next up, you may remember MAG, which debuted at E3's press conference: it's the massive multiplayer online title that will feature up to 256 players at once. Well, supposedly, they're "nearing its alpha stage of testing," and if that's the case, expect to see more news and updates over the next few months. In the same realm, the source reveals that the Sucker Punch PS3 exclusive, Infamous, has begun its testing phase. Neither of the aforementioned upcoming titles have an estimated release, although this may change in the near future.
Lastly, while Resistance 2 is guaranteed to rock the house, PSP owners are hoping the third-person shooter adaptation for the series, Resistance: Retribution, will also be worthy of a purchase. However, it seems that early feedback hasn't been very positive...although we're not really sure why. Shooters haven't fared well on handhelds over the past few years, though, so perhaps it's not much of a surprise. We'll be sure to keep you updated on all of this as more information becomes available, so stay tuned.
