PixelJunk Monsters Headed To PSP
One might not think that a game called "PixelJunk" would turn out to be entertaining, but the Q-Games series has done pretty well on the PSN and now, one of them is headed to Sony's sleek portable.
According to Kotaku, Q-Games will be porting over the PlayStation 3 title to the PSP, and although it'll essentially be the same game, Q-Games founder Dylan Cuthbert said they'll add "a bit more." He wouldn't be specific as to the extra stuff PSP owners might be able to expect, but he did say the decision came due to a high demand for a native PSP version of Monsters. You might be surprised to learn that the PixelJunk series has garnered a large number of loyal followers, but once you've played 'em, you might understand the praise. Now, you can indeed utilize the Remote Play option on the PS3, but when PSP owners said they wanted a native version, Q-Games wasn't about to deny them, you know? They say we can expect this port some time next year, and it may be the start of many original PSN titles finding their way to the PSP; just like some PSP titles should eventually show up on the PSN. Let's not discount the inherent (and relatively cheap) appeal of fun little titles that just about anyone can get into.
So if you're a PSP owner and you don't really jump on the PSN that often, or you don't have a PS3 at all, you may want to keep an eye out for PixelJunk Monsters when it comes to the handheld in 2009.
