NIS Confirms Disgaea 2 For PSP
The Disgaea franchise is much-beloved amongst a niche RPG crowd, and PSP owners have already been treated to one entry, entitled Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness. Now, a remake of the PS2 sequel is headed to Sony's handheld, as NIS has lifted the veil on the Disgaea 2 PSP website.
The game will feature a score of improvements and enhancements, plus a variety of extras and bonuses. For example, we'll get a special new chapter exclusively for Axel (complete with his own stages), two new demon classes, access to the female Samurai and Death Saber classes, new weapons and items, and they'll even toss in the MagicChange system from Disgaea 3. It's like going into the future to bring new updates from a sequel back to a predecessor! NIS will take things up another notch by allowing the player to increase character movement speed, and will provide us with an enhanced camera and smoother menu navigation. If you're an RPG fan, you most certainly need a PSP these days, but then again, a whole lot of hardcore RPG fans already bought Disgaea 2 way back when it released on the PS2. However, if you didn't and you're looking for a great turn-based strat/RPG to pass the time, there has never been anything quite so deep or absorbing as the Disgaea games.
The game is scheduled for a March 26, 2009 release in Japan, although we have no word yet on a North American release. But have no fear; these titles have always come stateside so we have to assume that this one will, too...at some point.
