GDC 09: Duke Nukem Handheld Trilogy On Display
While we all know that Duke Nukem Forever is the longest and most elaborate hoax to be perpetrated on the gaming public - 11 years and still going strong! - this doesn't mean good ol' Duke is gone...forever. Er...no pun intended.
As OhGizmo proves, there are multiple Duke titles scheduled for both the PSP and DS. Apogee showed them off at the Game Developers Conference (as indicated by those pics), which immediately puts them far ahead of the fictitious DNF, which doesn't actually exist. These games do. Apogee is preparing no less than 6 new Duke Nukem titles for the aforementioned handheld; well, there are actually only 3, but the PSP and DS will be getting very different versions. The trilogy consists of Duke Nukem: Critical Mass, Duke Nukem: Chain Reaction and Duke Nukem: Proving Grounds. The PSP versions will be rated "M," and although toned down a bit to fit on the hardware, it'll still feature much of the blood Duke fans from olden times were familiar with. The DS versions will be rated "T," which means, we're assuming- no strippers. As for release dates, those are still up in the air, but at least you can actually see the games functioning on the PSP in your hands if you were at the GDC. That's good news, right?
We'll keep you updated on the status of this trilogy, and when you might be able to nab the first title for yourself. This is the first real Duke-related news we've been able to post, so we're all sorts of excited.
