Lunar: Silver Star Returns In Enhanced Form To The PSP
PlayStation fans may not remember the original Sega CD classic, Lunar: The Silver Star, but they might be familiar with the PS1 release, Lunar: The Silver Star Story Complete, which was definitely superior.
But whether you recognize the title or not, old-school role-playing fans should be excited to learn that Gungho Works is currently working on what's best described as an "extended remake" of the game in question. According to Siliconera, the news comes straight from the pages of Famitsu (as seen here), and this new version for Sony's handheld will feature a host of enhancements. Supposedly, we can expect an "improved interface, refined graphics, and new scenarios not found in the Saturn/PSOne revision." As of now, it hasn't been announced for North America, but it's interesting to note that XSeed plans to bring "an enhanced PSOne RPG to E3," so maybe this is it. If not, it's just another one of those games you might want to consider importing, especially if you're an RPG nut that missed out on the greatness of Lunar way back when. Silver Star Story Complete had a great story, great music, great cutscenes, and sprite-based gameplay that felt like a throwback even in the late '90s. It's gonna make a fantastic addition to the PSP's library.
Personally, SSSC remains one of my favorite RPGs of all time, so it's just more good news today. This one is coming to the PSP (with new content!) and as we just reported, Final Fantasy Tactics is headed to the Japanese PSN. Japan gets all sorts of cool stuff. :(
