PSXE Poll Update: Expecting A PS3 Price Cut At E3

At this point, the rumors hint at an enormous number of huge announcements at this year's E3, but it seems our readers expect one above all others:

A price drop for the PlayStation 3. It has been a hot topic of conversation for months now and in reality, it has been a controversial subject surrounding Sony's next-gen machine since it launched with a relatively extravagant $600 price tag. Since the 2008 holiday season, both gamers and analysts alike have been calling for a price cut but Sony has remained adamant; they're simply not prepared to bring the price down $50 or $100. Therefore, the official word on this has always remained the same. But it appears that our readers are buying into the horde of supposed evidence that has been revolving around the Internet, and that's perfectly fair. We've seen some very compelling pieces of information lately, and it remains a possibility that the PS3 will have a more attractive price tag after E3 is over. But now that we've established this, we're going to switch gears a bit-

Most of you are aware of how most Japanese developers feel they are lagging behind Western designers in the video game industry. Hence, many, including Square-Enix and Konami, have expressed a strong desire to "expand Westward;" in other words, they want to produce more games that appeal to gamers in this neck of the woods. This has received a mixed reaction and it'll be interesting to see what you think. Do you believe this is a good thing? Or would you rather have the distinct separation from the past, when Western and Japanese titles were often very different from each other in terms of both style and gameplay? Vote now to express how you feel on the subject.

Can Japanese game developers just create the kinds of games that they want to produce? Can we not bastardize the video game market and make everything homogeneous?
I for one appreciate developers like Team ICO, who stick to their guns, and make the kind of games THEY want to make. I reward those kind of developers with my money.
The last thing I want to see is a wave of new FPS made by Japanese developers...

As for a price cut? I'm all about it. Is the PS3 a good value at $400? Yes! Is it a better overall deal as compared to the Xbox 360? Yes! But sales matter and Sony is lagging behind. No, Sony ain't going anywhere, but they're going to completely miss out on the mainstream market if they don't drop the price soon. I don't want to see the PS3 become a niche system...
Sony has made great strides to improve the PS3. I think that Sony clearly has all the momentum this year and looking forward, but marketing went wrong somewhere...There is this terrible misconception that the PS3 lacks good games. This is so far from the truth, but the average person who doesn't follow video games still believes this....
This is Sony's biggest problem.
A price drop will go a long ways towards alleviating this problem. At least this way, it will make more prospective consumers take notice of the quality product that is the PS3.

They "expect a price drop?" No, more like they WANT a price drop. You can expect what you want for as long as you like, but it won't make it true.

Personally, I just want to hear about the great games we're getting so I can decide where my bux will go.

Price Cut - Nope. JRPG's...change them...keep them the same, don't really care, just make certain they reach your entire constituency at one time, rather than just the highest payor, or you may have another dismal fiscal year like last year, I'm lookin at you S-E.

If Japanese games like RPGs step away from their traditional style, I would expect them to do more poorly than ever.

The only thing that can be improved upon is the game controls and translation (or English dubbing).

I would much rather play a turn-based JRPG than a western FPS action-RPG.
