Kratos Goes Portable In Broken Destiny
By now, PSP owners should be well aware of Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, which is bound to be one of the biggest handheld titles of 2009. But maybe we know something you don't...
Of course, the very first portable iteration of this immensely popular fighting franchise will feature most all of your favorite characters, but there's one that wasn't initially revealed. Namco Bandai has confirmed that a brand new playable character, specifically for Broken Destiny, will join the ranks: his name is Kratos. Here's a snippet from Namco's official statement:
"Greek mythos collides with the eternal tale of souls and swords as NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc., today announced that Kratos, from Sony Computer Entertainment America's critically revered God of War® franchise, will appear as a guest character in SOULCALIBUR®: Broken Destiny. Developed by Project Soul® exclusively for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, SOULCALIBUR: Broken Destiny is the first portable iteration in the series that promises to deliver its signature weapon-based fighting formula on-the-go. Robust and challenging single-player modes, head-to-head multiplayer and gorgeous visuals make this a must-have for any fighting game fan."
It was rumored for quite some time that Kratos, the mighty God of War hero, would be included in the lineup for Soul Calibur IV. That didn't happen, but this here is the next best thing. If you want to see an example of Kratos in action against other fighters in Broken Destiny, go visit GamingBits; there's a great gameplay video there. In addition to the recently unveiled Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Gran Turismo PSP, this is easily one of the most anticipated handheld games. And with Kratos...well, damn, it just got better!
