Kratos Goes Portable In Broken Destiny

By now, PSP owners should be well aware of Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, which is bound to be one of the biggest handheld titles of 2009. But maybe we know something you don't...

Of course, the very first portable iteration of this immensely popular fighting franchise will feature most all of your favorite characters, but there's one that wasn't initially revealed. Namco Bandai has confirmed that a brand new playable character, specifically for Broken Destiny, will join the ranks: his name is Kratos. Here's a snippet from Namco's official statement:

"Greek mythos collides with the eternal tale of souls and swords as NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc., today announced that Kratos, from Sony Computer Entertainment America's critically revered God of War® franchise, will appear as a guest character in SOULCALIBUR®: Broken Destiny. Developed by Project Soul® exclusively for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, SOULCALIBUR: Broken Destiny is the first portable iteration in the series that promises to deliver its signature weapon-based fighting formula on-the-go. Robust and challenging single-player modes, head-to-head multiplayer and gorgeous visuals make this a must-have for any fighting game fan."

It was rumored for quite some time that Kratos, the mighty God of War hero, would be included in the lineup for Soul Calibur IV. That didn't happen, but this here is the next best thing. If you want to see an example of Kratos in action against other fighters in Broken Destiny, go visit GamingBits; there's a great gameplay video there. In addition to the recently unveiled Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Gran Turismo PSP, this is easily one of the most anticipated handheld games. And with Kratos...well, damn, it just got better!

Finally! (though would've been more badass if he was in Soul Calibur 5...)

Anyway should be fun either way

Too many games to keep up with. I'll go broke, get thumb blisters, carpal tunnel syndrome and eye strain all at the same time!

You can make a halfway decent Kratos in the Soul Creator in SCIV

If Soul Calibur 5 showed up and had a far greater emphasis on the off line aspects of the game I'd buy it. The major concerns for me with SC4 are cheating AI, and story modes so thin that they appear not to be there at all. It appears that the developers concentrated so much on making the online experience work, that they basically ignored the off-line play aspects of the game. If SC5 was to arrive with an even more extensive character creator (the one in SC3 felt more flexible than the one in SC4 oddly enough), and fleshed out stories for each character, and an actual story mode that took the Chronicles of the Sword idea from SC3 and actually ran with it. Well, then SC5 would be an instant day 1 purchase, and a hit.

I just cant wait for this Soul Calibur , Dissidia and the Resident Evil game...I have the fantasy of the PSP game to be like Resident Evil 2 with 2 cds but this time with 2 UMDS one with Leon and the other UMD with a new Female character.

and PACEWALKER god in Kojima words..the real Metal Gear Solid 5.

lol Project Soul must not have realised that they've just introduced a virtual equivalent of Chuck Norris to their game. Heck, I'd even say Kratos would kill Chuck Norris!

I'm not really a GoW fan but i can see how this is a pretty good combination, Kratos will fit in nicely with the SC cast.
