Gran Turismo PSP Not Affecting GT5 Development Cycle
While it was clear that Sony wanted to put the emphasis on the new Gran Turismo PSP at their E3 press conference, don't think for a second that it will interrupt the design cycle of Gran Turismo 5.
According to Softpedia, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has clearly stated "that the teams working on the games are not influencing each other...the schedule for the main title will not be affected in any way by the development and release of the game for the PSP Go!." He did say that the team handling the portable version of GT certainly gained plenty of valuable experience, especially concerning the difficulty of making a game like GT look fantastic on such a small unit as the PSP Go!. As for Microsoft's recently announced Forza 3, Yamauchi doesn't believe it's a threat to GT5 simply because the two games are targeting different markets, and he also doesn't believe that the onslaught of arcade racers with power-ups and whatnot will cause fans of simulators to disappear. Well, perhaps Microsoft should take some notes: this is the proper way to go about addressing a competitor; you don't sling mud for no reason, and let's not forget that in this particular situation, it's Yamauchi who has all the right in the world to make such comments.
Anyway, we're none too happy with Microsoft's recent boasting, and you can read all about in a couple articles you will find on the main page...they're tough to miss.
