Koei Porting Dynasty Warriors 6 To PSP
Okay, Koei, we get it. You like to make Dynasty Warriors games, and you also like to port them. ...but we're still more interested in Legends: Warriors of Troy for the PlayStation 3.
Anyway, according to PSPHyper, a Japanese publication has revealed that Shin Sangoku Musou 5 Special (yes, that's the name DW6 goes by in Japan) will be ported to the PSP. The good news is that this particular title "will include elements from all previous releases," which means we'll have features like the "Musou Mode" from the PS2 version, Meng Huo as a playable character, and co-op play via Ad-Hoc. Of course, you can expect a few other little additions and enhancements, like more costumes and perhaps a few new skills here and there, so fans of the franchise ought to be satisfied. The game has a Japanese release date of September 3 but there's no word yet on whether or not it will ever see store shelves in North America or Europe. The series is certainly more popular in Japan - for obvious reasons - so perhaps it wouldn't be worth Koei's time and resources to release it in other territories. The problem is, there are plenty of PSP titles coming our way, and almost all of them hold a greater appeal for US and European gamers. DW has always been more of a niche franchise and that "niche" is almost entirely centered in Japan.
Even so, we could always use another solid PSP entry. We'll let you know if it does end up breaking Japanese borders but if it doesn't, we imagine you can find some other game to pass the time.
