Developers Have Extra Incentives For PSP Go "Minis"
The more we hear about it, the more we come to understand that the PSP Go is a very different breed in the handheld realm.
During Sony's press conference at GamesCom last week, they revealed what will be known as "Minis," which are small, "bite-size" software applications that come in under the 100MB limit. Clearly, these games rival the options iPhone owners have on the App Store, and we've heard the prices will also be similar. But as noted by GamerBytes, developers have more incentive to produce "Minis" for the PSP Go: Sony has revealed that designers won't be charged the normal PSN bandwidth fee for the Mini Service. Of course, given the size of these applications, it's not exactly a huge savings, but at least it's something. Furthermore, unlike WiiWare, there is no minimum sales goal developers have to hit before they get paid, and they can even choose their own release dates. In other words, Sony wants to give studios as much freedom and incentive as possible to produce as many "Minis" as possible...and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Some consumers still see the $250 PSP Go price tag as being a bit too high, but considering what you get for that, it's actually not a bad deal. Besides, just look at the full software that's coming! 'cough' MGS, GT 'cough'

It wouldn't make much sense to have the PSP Go be the only platform for these 'mini' apps since you'd effectively be excluding nigh on 50 million possible customers before you even get started.
