Taito Bringing Darius Burst To The PSP
Veteran gamers will likely remember the name "Darius," but they certainly haven't played a new installment in quite some time. The last one, Darius-G for the original PlayStation, released over a decade ago.
But according to the Examiner.com, Taito will be bringing an all new entry in the franchise to the PSP: it's Darius Burst, and it should give new-age gamers a glimpse into the past; a past that was laden with 2D side-scrolling shooters. Burst will feature over 11 levels and separate paths for the player, which means that in order to fully experience the game, you'll have to play and conquer each of the 4 final stages. These are the types of games we commonly see pop up on handhelds lately, and they're also coming to downloadable services on consoles as well. It's a little surprising that so many have fared so well in a world of flashy graphics and next-gen technology; perhaps it isn't just old-school gamers who want a taste of the industry's golden age. No word on whether or not Darius Burst will be released outside of Japan, but we'll just be optimistic for the time being and assume it will.
There are plenty of reasons for you to own a PSP, and even more to own a PSP Go, and it's all about the software in our eyes. Gadgets are cool, but the PlayStation brand has always been - and always will be - about the games.
