Kojima: "Foreign" Developer Could Remake Metal Gear

Maybe you weren't aware, but it didn't all begin with Metal Gear Solid on the PlayStation; the official start began way back in 1987 on the old MSX in the form of just plain ol' Metal Gear. Then it jumped through the roof when it arrived on the NES.

And now that everyone has gone a little remake crazy, perhaps it was inevitable that somebody would ask Hideo Kojima if he had any plans of revisiting and entirely overhauling the 22-year-old game. His response may actually surprise you... This came from a recent interview with Kotaku Japan:

"It doesn't have to be me who makes it. I made it a long time ago. It could be somebody young that maybe has more abilities than I do... It would even be good if a foreign production team even did it."

A "foreign production team?" As in, a team from the West? Well, that might not be a terrible idea, actually, as the concept of Metal Gear may be well-suited for designers in this neck of the woods. It would be disappointing to have Kojima play no role in the production whatsoever, although with a project this old, it may not be a requirement. After all, just about no aspect of the original title would remain, right? What do you think? Should we see a new, remade Metal Gear for the new generation?
