Capcom "Absolutely Not Finished With Monster Hunter On PSP"
It may not be such a big deal here in the US, but in Japan, the Monster Hunter franchise is a legitimate phenomenon. In fact, series titles for the PSP have smashed sales records again and again, so we shouldn't be surprised to hear that Capcom isn't through with handheld iterations.
You probably haven't been keeping up unless you're a faithful fan of the franchise in question, but Monster Hunter Freedom 2 launched back in the summer of 2007, which was eventually followed by Freedom Unite. But now that we're putting a little distance between those launches and 2010, fans were starting to think Capcom might abandon the PSP and shift to another platform (maybe even the PS3). However, according to Gaming Union, you'll certainly see another portable Monster Hunter at some point. Said Capcom's US Senior Director of Communications and Community, Chris Kramer:
"We are absolutely not finished with Monster Hunter on the PSP. I can't announce anything further than that though."
Well, that's good enough for now. What we're hoping is that this new entry - whenever it arrives - will finally generate some real interest in this country, simply because it's supposed to be one of the better RPG experiences one can have this generation. There's a surprising amount of depth and intricacy involved in these handheld titles so if you're a role-playing fan and a PSP owner, you might want to keep a sharp eye out for more info.
