Capcom "Absolutely Not Finished With Monster Hunter On PSP"

It may not be such a big deal here in the US, but in Japan, the Monster Hunter franchise is a legitimate phenomenon. In fact, series titles for the PSP have smashed sales records again and again, so we shouldn't be surprised to hear that Capcom isn't through with handheld iterations.

You probably haven't been keeping up unless you're a faithful fan of the franchise in question, but Monster Hunter Freedom 2 launched back in the summer of 2007, which was eventually followed by Freedom Unite. But now that we're putting a little distance between those launches and 2010, fans were starting to think Capcom might abandon the PSP and shift to another platform (maybe even the PS3). However, according to Gaming Union, you'll certainly see another portable Monster Hunter at some point. Said Capcom's US Senior Director of Communications and Community, Chris Kramer:

"We are absolutely not finished with Monster Hunter on the PSP. I can't announce anything further than that though."

Well, that's good enough for now. What we're hoping is that this new entry - whenever it arrives - will finally generate some real interest in this country, simply because it's supposed to be one of the better RPG experiences one can have this generation. There's a surprising amount of depth and intricacy involved in these handheld titles so if you're a role-playing fan and a PSP owner, you might want to keep a sharp eye out for more info.

Bleh, I'd rather have it on PS3. I have Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, and it's a lot of fun, and looks and plays fluidly, it's nice to say the least. It has a lot of customization and stuff but, I just keep finding myself playing other games for some reason, guess I don't like using my PSP for long term sessions like I would my PS3.

Of course they aren't finished, particullary withthe PSP. Look at Japan where MH has become a moneymaker....I mean its practically Capcom's equivalent of FF/DQ. The double-edge sword to this though is that it now become a reason for Capcom to flood the market with more MH games, but then again this a company known for historically flooding the market with sequels and updates.

I loved the first monster hunter for psp. And when the second one came out I got it, and it was really fun for a while. The only problem is that the new games just seem like expansion packs, and all that time spent on the first game seems like it wasnt worth it. I just want them to make it for the ps3 so I can enjoy the thing again

^^^ uh? the franchise did abandon the PSP and it did shifted to another platform (Wii). In fact Monster Hunter 3 was suppose to be a PS3 exclusive.

Don't own or want a PSP so putting them exclusively on the handheld is losing them money. From me at least. Put it on the PSP's bigger brother!!

I've been a fan since the very start of the franchise on the PS2...I play my psp *only* on the LCD, for me it's just another home console, I bought it only for this franchise. And I'm getting the Wii too. I really prefer it on the PS3 but Capcom "or Crapcom" still doesn't want us the fans to be happy or it's not in their list of priorities, they just want to make more money, and it's sad, really sad. When does Videogaming change from mere industry that only cares about money to art and perfection, I wonder.

i'd buy it on PS3, but i'll borrow it on PSP. not worth my cash with the finger-contortions required to play the game with any skill on the psp platform. learned that the hard way on the first two...

The market will explode once they make:

Monster Hunter PS3

No spinoffs or sequels after that. Just to rest the remainder of the gaming gen........ LOL. C'mon it could work ;)

my dream list for psp.
a new splinter cell game.
a new GOW game.
a new R&C game.
a tactical shooter like splinter cell.
all out arcade shooter like resistance retribution.
and as many hack and slash action games as they can think of.
i would scream my lungs off in excitement if capcom brought DMC and resident evil to the psp, now that would be cool.
who does not want a portable version of dante?
