Chinatown Wars: Buy Now On PSN Or In UMD Format

The PSP has plenty of appealing software on store shelves these days, but one of the latest releases can also be found on the PSN...and ahead of the standard Thursday update.

If you decided to jump onto the PlayStation Store at some point in the past 24 hours, you may have noticed that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is sitting there, waiting to be bought. It's also available on UMD down at your local game store if you'd rather do that, but in this case, it may be more convenient for you to nab one of the most anticipated ports of the year in digital format. In this latest GTA adventure, the main character - Huang Lee - comes back to Liberty City on a mission of revenge: he's on a quest to find the man who killed his father. Featuring plenty of new content and a definite visual upgrade from the DS version, Chinatown Wars is one of those game that most PSP owners will want to have in their collections. Said Rockstar founder Sam Houser:

"Chinatown Wars represents our desire to continue innovating and delivering an unparalleled level of entertainment for portable games. The team at Rockstar Leeds has taken one of their most acclaimed titles of all time and built upon that experience in a way that could only be done on the PSP system."

There are more than enough reasons to own a PSP right now, and if you've forgotten, the GTA franchise has done extraordinarily well on Sony's portable unit. They recently said they have no intention of abandoning the PSP - people thought they might when Chinatown Wars only released for the DS - and that should come as good news to all. So if you want the newest handheld GTA, just log on to the PSN tonight!

I own all the PSP GTA iterations, but as soon as I saw it as an overheard view, I had to pass imediately.

Frankly the overhead view actually appeals to me more. I have fond memories of playing GTA II and the overhead view seems better suited to the kind of quick, casual bits of gaming you might do on a handheld.

Well I actually do serious gaming on my PSP, I played GTA 1 and got turned off to the series, then III came along and changed that, and I started to enjoy GTA, so thats why I prefer the third person POV.

i would get a psp for this and assassins creed.
but i remember what happened when i did the same thing when i saw Scarface on the psp.
i loved the ps2 version to death and literally shat a brick when i saw it in UMD form and bought it with a psp.
than found out its not the same as the ps2 version and was completley utterly shattered because it SUCKED!
if sony were to put crash bash on to the PSN so i could play it on my psp i would be instantly there.
i dont think sony realize how important ps1 games are to people, im STILL waiting for pandemonium the US store had it like 3 weeks ago!
3 games that were made for the psp

If this game didn't sell well on ds, what makes em think it's gonna sell well on psp? It shoulda been released on the psp first anyway.

I'm with you redman479 about releasing this game on the psp first or at the same time. It totally needs a graphics overhaul for the psp. I don't like gta that much, but this game really looks terrible.
