Sega PSP Demos Cater To RPG Fans
Role-playing fans are in for some fun on the PSP and if you're not convinced, you can always try to the pair of demos that will be available on the first two days of November.
According to a recent Famitsu.com report summarized at Andriasang, the first is Phantasy Star Portable 2 and it will be up and ready on the first of November. This sequel is what many multiplayer RPG aficionados have been waiting for; the PSP has proven to be a good platform for this style of gaming (especially in Japan), and Phantasy Star is one of Sega's more popular franchises. Next up, on November 2, is a demo for Valkyria Chronicles 2, one of the more hotly anticipated handheld titles. PlayStation 3 owners who fell in love with the original title were a bit miffed to learn this sequel would only be on Sony's portable unit, but PSP fans should be happy. Of course, we're assuming these demos will only be on the Japanese PlayStation Store so hopefully, you're savvy enough to have one such account handy... Over the years, it has been a good idea to have multiple Store accounts, just 'cuz Japan tends to get lucky in regards to demos and other content.
We do get the feeling that Sega will likely bring Valkyria Chronicles back to the PS3 at some point; they just wanted to approach a different audience this time around.

It, however, looks like the PS2 is on its last legs. I was looking at the release list of upcoming PS2 games and there are 16 games scheduled to come out from now until April 1, 2010, compared with the roughly 80 games or so that came out last year.
Now, this isn't a knock on the PS2, but it seems like PS2 support is winding down. With the vast catalog of games and stores like GameStop/EbGames still selling used Ps2 games, however, I'm sure Sony will still sell some PS2s for a while.
I bring this up because maybe this is what Sony has been waiting for to reintroduce PS2 BC to the PS3 via a system update or download. I'm sure it's coming, and I hope it does so the last remaining detractor for some people will be removed.
Seriously, at first the naysayers were screaming the PS3 was still too expensive at $399 as they played Halo on their $399 360 Elites; and now that Sony has removed the price obstacle, they've started with the lack of PS2 BC as why they won't buy a PS3.

I dont know about you, but all my friends play sports games and FPS and HATE RPGs of any kind. So I need online capabilities to find peeps like minded to play with. So IF there was some sort of ONLINE SYSTEM that was made easily available and not a headach to operate for these 2 games, then all would be cool. In japan this is so. They have a free system to play MHF and Phantasy Star Portable online with others. Here in america we do not. IM hearing because they would lose money here on it. But dont they lose money in japan too?
SURELY we could use our PS3s as servers to play these games. Adhoc sucks so bad if you cant get anyone to play with you.
I agree at least we get the games to play, but these games would sell so much more if TRUE ONLINE PLAY were added to these PSP RPGS.
End of Line.
