BlazBlue Portable Confirmed For Japan

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is one of the finest old-school fighters you'll ever play. And soon, PSP owners will get a chance to taste the speedy, flashy, supremely polished goodness.

According to Andriasang citing the most recent edition of Famitsu, BlazBlue Portable has been revealed for Sony's handheld device. Although we obviously won't get the same outstanding visuals, publisher Arc System Works is actually calling this version an upgrade over the PS3 and 360 versions. In fact, the words they use are "greatly powered up," as they're introducing a new Legion Mode along with powerful "Unlimited" forms for a dozen characters. Legion Mode sounds interesting: basically, you'll face off against an oncoming army of foes, each of whom you'll fight in the standard one-on-one venue. If you can manage to defeat the wave of enemies, you can select one of them to join your side; you can have up to 20 people on your team. The goal is to snag as many of your favorite - and most powerful - characters in existence, so you can finally face the Unlimited characters that will be bosses. Not surprisingly, this portable iteration will also offer ad-hoc multiplayer that supports up to four players and this includes Ad-Hoc Party support, "so those with a PS3 will be able to challenge distant rivals."

There's no knowing if we'll see BlazBlue Portable here in the US but it'll be available in Japan on February 25 and it'll be offered as a downloadable title as well.
