Free Comics For Your Digital Comics Reader On PSP

Firmware update v6.20 for the PSP delivered the Digital Comics Reader to the XMB on your handheld and the PlayStation Network comic service will go live in December in the US.

But if you want a head start, you can nab the first comic...entirely free. As announced over at the PlayStation Blog, after downloading the most recent PSP update, you can enter the following code and get yourself a digital copy of "Star Trek: Year Four - The Enterprise Experiment."

724K-A4BG-JLD7

Everyone can use this code but it will only continue to work through December 16, and it must be redeemed directly on the PSP; you can't use the PS3 or Media Go. If you want, you can grab even more comics by first visiting the PlayStation Comics website and PlayStation on Twitter. Looky, more codes! I have no idea how many people like the idea of reading comics on their PSP but it must've been a requested feature, right?  Personally, I never got into comic books but it seems like they often go hand-in-hand with gamers, especially back in the day.

I needed to go under Account Management and deactivate/reactivate my psp, then download them from my History. From what I could find on pricing it looks like they may offer subscriptions, sets and graphic novels. Batman Arkham Asylum FTW!

I love comics, but I read more DC than Marvel. And I don't think I'd want to read them on a tiny ass PSP screen.

It does a great job of zooming in and scanning where you should be looking just by hitting right (or left to go back). Kind of frame by frame. Plus it lets you play your mp3's while you read. No one seems to be mentioning that feature. There are 15 years worth of stories I've missed. I may do some catching up now. Check out the Transformer comic. It's well worth a look.

The Star Trek code is invalid for me. Is it only for US?

its kind of interesting they went for Marvel Comics (for this and official Sackboy costumes) and not DC, since isn't Sony making an exclusive DC MMORPG?

I haven't read comics for about 15 years...until last night. I read all of them except for Astro Boy. I have to say I am impressed. If they keep the prices low enough, there are definitely some back stories I'd like to read on this thing. Civil War will be my first purchase. I liked the reader way more than I expected to. It does a great job of scanning through where you want it to. And the Transformer's comic was really well done. It even shakes the screen on explosions. Well done, Sony. Thank you. Now I'm just hoping for a HUGE collection to browse through. Fingers crossed for "Preacher".

Aye, gave this a run and was pleasantly surprised - I haven't read comics in years, as they tend to stack up about the place and cause a mess - the PSP solution (and even better if they come to the PS3 as well) looks to be mighty fine, and I'd be very surprised if I didn't check a few series out :).

i read through the transformers comic and was pretty suprised at how cool it was. i was a little disappointed with the comic itself as there was not a lot of reading in it but the art work was fantastic. didnt do the other ones yet but not realy into star trek. i will check it out at some point though. i will have to wait and see how much this costs before i actually do it but i am interested.

The things that I'm mainly looking forward to are the 300 comics (saw the movie, loved it), the FLCL manga if it turns out they will distribute them, and finally the Watchmen comics. Rorschach is such a badass.

Oh yesss, as a Marvel-fan for 30+ years now this is sweet news. I havent tried the comic reader yet, but if it works good then I'll look forward to get updated on the stories in the Marvel universe!
