This is getting a little out of hand! Sony needs to shift focus from Hardware to more quality Software!
Although, a new PSP would be nice! Let's just hope the PSP2 will have a UMD drive so my collection won't go obsolete if I upgrade! (reason I haven't got a PSPgo yet)

a psp2 in 2010 would really be a smack in the face to all the people that just bought a psp go. i really dont like the name of the psp go. just sounds dumb as hell. psp2 sounds dumb also. if they do have a new psp coming i hope it has a better name.

anyone know how long the original psp was in development for before it came out?

the psp go was obvs a warm up for the new psp, am sure the pspgo was like a test, and they will monitor whp buys more, the pspgo or the 3000, to see which way to go with the new psp2, either go digit or have actual physical media, tho the obvious answere is to do both, have a machine with a 64 gb solid state drive and a newer version for the physical media, as the psp2 will need to be at least ps2 level, really should be of a standard of in the middle of ps2 and ps3, basically ps2 level detail with 720p level of graphics would be nice, games capped at around the 9gb mark like ps2 games, 2 analog sticks, camera, web browser, psn store, wifi, and ofcause has to be Backwards compatible, so peoples psp collections are not wasted, also since the psn store knows what games youve downloaded any psp games downloaded from the store, you should be able to re download them for the new psp2.

ps

i guess touch screen will need to be implemted too, not a big fan of touch screen on things like iphone, but with a stylus like the ds its pretty decent, esp for games like the mini's and simple games like cards games etc.

the psp is not at the level of ps2!, what a stupid statement. for starters the psp cant have games bigger than 1.7gb as thats all a umd can hold where a dvd can have around 8gb, actually theres so many diffs i cant be arsed pointing each one out.

Maybe you shouldn't be so mis-informed then by making ridiculous statements. You clearly must not own a PSP otherwise you would know that the PSP does not have the same graphic capabilities of the PS2.

FWIW the PS2 processor actually runs SLOWER than the PSP processor (300 MHz to 333 MHz), though that is only one factor in the relative power of the systems.

yes but to be honest, most gamers realised this, that the psp2 is coming at some point, before the pspgo was offially annouced their was rumours that the psp2 would be announced. if it comes out in 12 months time, just in time for christmas, then it would of had a good 5+yr run (as they will still sell psp's like the ps2 is still selling) now for the handheld market thats a pretty good run, as the psp i thought was amazing when it came out, now when i play games i am comparing them to ps3 level, the bar has been set higher and i find playing new psp games, somewhat annoying, sony needs to get a march on the handheld market and get its ocnsole out before the DS2 comes out, as am sure sonys new device will have touch screen, and am sure i read that the DS2 will actually have decent graphics this time round so the two handhelds will be in even tougher competition this time round.

Sweedie, I have heard of the video game but can't say I am knowledgable about it so I do not get the inside joke about this picture and my objection to it does not go away just because you have explained its significance to you. Thank you for explaining it, however it still means nothing to me, and that might be the case for others on this site as well.

As far as how you are treated being gay, if you feel you have been mistreated in life, perhaps your attitude of wanting to push this particular issue, damn the consequences, and damn other peoples oppinion, might go a long way of explaining why you have had difficulties with others in your past.

If you think our objection to the picture is because of the gay implications, I can't speak for others, but I doubt that is the issue. You can have an avatar of Adam Lambert or Clay Aiken, and I doubt anyone would care. Your particular avatar is just creepy to me.

If you are trying to make a statement, then that admits you are trying to raise a certain emotion, good or bad out of someone. Don't hate on someone because they are getting the reaction you are obviously trying to get with that avatar.

Your sexual orientation is not the issue directly, it is the graphic depiction through your avatar. Please remain as you are, but maybe consider a change in the avatar visual, that is all.

A suggestion, there is the gay rights flag I think which is quite colourful, maybe the flag emblem or something may be more appropriate.

It's not prudish to be made uncomfortable or be offended by an image depicting a minor making out with an older man, homosexual or not, the image depicts criminal activity and I personally find that offensive. I'll add my voice to those asking you to choose a different avatar, I could not care less whether you're gay, straight or attracted to pretzels, it doesn't matter, but a child kissing an older adult in a romantic manner is wrong, illegal and disgusting. So change it please. If I have to, I'll be asking the site admin to get involved next, because by your own statement you have insufficient respect for the other users here to heed their request and will only change if instructed to do so.

Please don't try to make this some kind of persecution issue, it's nothing to do with prejudice or persecution of minorities, it's simply that your avatar image depicts something that is universally illegal.

It's so sad that people take such trouble to oppose something opposed to their beliefs. I don't even see anything wrong with it being an older male and a younger male. People say it has to do with criminality, but why does that take precedent? There is nothing wrong with anything; morality is socially constructed, people. And it's entirely subjective/relative.
I think it's great to see someone acting out against a dominant discourse that relegates or contemns something.
I also recommend looking into a term called "trans-coding" for some interesting ways to subvert dominant culture.

I hope PSP2 uses memory cards or cartridges like the DS for games. I really wanted to buy physical medium instead of digital download. That UMD disc is draining all the power. The next PSP probably has HD output and better graphics, which mean even more power drainage. I hope they get rid of that spinning disc.

Most electronic devices get enhanced with new features periodically. PSP and PlayStation are no different. The PSP2 and PS4 are coming sooner rather than later, whether we like it or not. So I would suggest that you enjoy the great games we have now and worry about these systems when they are closer to the launch.

Am i the only person who doesn't care about a touch screen/qwerty kb./camera for the psp2?whats the problem with having 2 devices? most people will have a cell anyway with a camera and maybe qwerty kb depending on which kind of phone.I just want it to have good games
and having it built rock solid and no being able to brick just cause fw update was interrupted.Also built smaller then psp-1000 that i still own :P

I was close in getting a PSP3000; after this news I will wait...

I have to say too, that the new iPod Touch 64GB is very very tempting. I think Sony has gotten a genuine fright at how quickly Apple has decided to "officially" move into the mobile device gaming scene. Apple basically "admitted" they want to take Nintendo and Sony on... It is getting scary...

According to other information I have picked up on the web, there seems to be a strong line up games - shooters and driving games - coming out soon that apparently will knock the socks off people and show what a mobile gaming platform can do...

Now hearing the news about the PSP2 makes me think again, I should wait...

Lol, talk about a gamers deflationary scenario...

sweet just 3 things i want them to change.
1 make the screen larger.
2 give us that second nub.
3 release games both by download AND via memory sticks instead of using UMDs.
i mean seriously sony makes the freaking memory sticks so it would cost them buckleys to use them for games.
O and make sure you get rid of those lines going through the screen they give me a bloody headache.

You want to know why a PSP2 isn't coming, especially in 2010? If a PSP2 was coming then the PSP version of Gran Turismo would've been cancelled and the game moved over to the PSP2. Given the fact this haven't happen its quite clear no PSP2 is coming.

Well, this makes me really glad I spent £225 (about $350) on my PSP Go.

I LOVE sega so dont get me wrong but this is looking like a scd/32x moment from sony (just not as bad). I have happily stuck with my 1000 and to be honest, I still see a lot of life in it. Would it be nice to have a ps2.5 type hand held with more internal memory a camera, 3g and two joysticks? Definitely. And from the standpoint of those that have had their 1000 or slim this would be a gift from heaven had the 3000 and the go (more so the go) never came out. We would be drooling just about now.

So its not exactly a bad idea, the timing is just a little off with the launch of the go. The go would have been nice when the 3000 came out simply because DUO memory was so damn expensive. Now that memory has gone down in price, you can pop a large card in (still a few bux but certainly cheaper) and skip the go.

The psp appeals to a different market than a lot of DS users but considering its current power over the DS, i see no reason to not give the psp till 2011, come out with some killer apps or just some plain good games to generate interest while the thought of a psp2 (which is in some way backwards compatible) sits better with those that would buy a psp/psp2.

Just my thoughts
