THQ To Handle DreamWorks Games For Quite Some Time

Games based on movies have been getting better this generation, especially in regards to entertainment geared towards children.

This is why we're hoping THQ will deliver more in the way of decent interactive adaptations, as it has been announced that they've "entered into a multi-year, multi-property licensing agreement" with DreamWorks Animation. This deal gives THQ the rights to develop and publish games based on the DreamWorks upcoming lineup, which includes "Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom," "Puss in Boots," and the TV show, "The Penguins of Madagascar." If you don't remember, the first Kung Fu Panda turned out to be surprisingly solid and remains one of the best games ever based on a movie. Therefore, we have high hopes for The Kaboom of Doom and the other titles as well. Said Kerry Phelan, Head of Worldwide Consumer Products for DreamWorks:

"We are pleased to expand our relationship with THQ and continue to be impressed by their focus on the kids and family videogame business. We look forward to extending the reach of our feature films and The Penguins of Madagascar TV series into a broad line of games and believe THQ will do a great job of maximizing our properties for family audiences."

As for the movies, you will see the "Kung Fu Panda" sequel in theaters on June 3, 2011, "Puss in Boots" on November 4, 2011, and don't forget about the upcoming "MegaMind," which will hit on November 5 of next year. Well, provided we get offerings that will appeal to the younger fan base, we figure THQ has made a good deal here.
