Peace Walker: Recruiting Foes And "AI Weapons That Sing"

Hideo Kojima has called Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the PSP a true entry in the fabled series; it would even make sense to call it "Metal Gear Solid V."

This is why he's more closely involved in the development of this title rather than the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Rising for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which is being handled by a younger team. And this is why we're always intrigued by new details on Peace Walker and the latest batch comes courtesy of NowGamer, where we learn about a few new potentially innovative features. Firstly, players will have the Mother Base offshore plant "as a hub for items and personnel collected within the game," and you'll even be able to recruit fallen foes and take them back to this base. The more ex-bad guys you're able to convert, the more new features you'll unlock. How cool is that? You'll also spend your time at the Mother Base upgrading your weaponry and selecting your armor, and you'll even select new "AI weapons." Said a Konami rep:

"Each AI Weapon can talk and even sing during battle using VOCALOID technology, hinting at a surprising level of intelligence and a deeper role in the game’s intricate plot."

Lastly, the game will boast four-player co-op missions and a three-on-three battle royale for extra multiplayer fun. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker really is shaping up to be one of the most impressive handheld projects we've ever seen, which is why some die-hard fans are more interested in this than in Rising. We wanna see both, of course, but we're very excited to see what Kojima and Co. can do when they want to make the most out of the PSP hardware...

Wow, looks like there's nothing that Kojima can't think of for his games.

The demo to this was bad. Its hugely same old regardless of feats.

Stop the story at the already to far mgs4, as promised, and move on!

I'm very intrigued to find out if he can do anything other than this....if it ever happens! (The new CV is not him)

Oh, I can't wait for this MGS on the go. And the 4 player co-op will be sick.

Take care.

Wait, why do they need to sing?

The beginning of this article reminds me of when Kojima was forced to take back what he said about not having much involvement in Rising. Wouldn't want to worry the 360 fans would we?

Very pumped for this game. MGS3 was my favorite in the series so i'm stoked for a follow-up to that plot line and style. Four player co-op? Awesome. I just really wish they had made this for PS3 instead, with MGS4-caliber graphics!

You can see my live Karaoke performance every Friday night at 8pm at the Shanty Shack in Macomb, Illinois. I tend to dab in 80's pop with a dash of 90's boyband thunder.

You can get a used one for under 100 dollars now. Don't eat fast food for a month and you'll have one.

As long as none of the weapons sing anything like Roseanne Bar doing our National Anthem, then I'll probably be OK with it.
