Half-Minute Hero Demo Announced, Game Goes Gold
It's just such an ingenious idea and one that should resonate with a generation that can't be bothered to sit still for very long. The latter trait is often viewed as a bad thing but in this case...
If you haven't heard of Half-Minute Hero, it's an old-school, fast-paced RPG that has you embark on 30-second quests in order to eventually save the realm. Follow that link to our preview for more info. But if you're still not convinced, you'll get a chance to play a bit of the game when a demo drops on the PSN on February 4. It's the "Hero Mode" demo and it features "a selection of missions from the final game, each showcasing a different type of challenge from this innovative quick-fire RPG." This will give you ample time to test it out; if you like it, go ahead and nab the full title the following week on February 12. Said Martin Defries, managing director for Rising Star Games:
"We're really excited about the release of Half-Minute Hero, truly the most innovative game on the PSP today. Those who can't wait until launch day should head to the PlayStation Network to download a demo of Half-Minute Hero, which contains three exciting levels from the game.
It has an unrivalled sense of humour, while managing to seriously suck you in with its old-school visuals and absorbing gameplay - as soon as you put it down you'll be thinking about the next opportunity to level up and be 'You > Evil'."
Developer Marvelous Entertainment is at the helm for this original adventure and although we're only talking about bite-size helpings of action, there are over 100 missions along with several multiplayer options to keep you involved for upwards of 20 hours. So far, the response to this one has been more than solid; the press release reminds us that Half-Minute Hero currently has a review average of 85% at GameRankings and 84% at Metacritic. It definitely sounds like one of the more promising PSP games of early 2010!
