Kevin Butler To Continue PS3 Promotion Throughout 2010
There was a time when Sony's PlayStation commercials were just plain bizarre and didn't really resonate with a mainstream audience.
But thanks to last year's huge price drop and the hilarious Kevin Butler, all that has changed. Funny man Butler started plugging the "It Only Does Everything" campaign in the latter part of 2009 and I think we all remember a lot of those commercials. My personal favorite is the Uncharted 2 ad with the hot girlfriend where Butler finishes by saying, "...yeah, I'm gonna say this isn't a problem." And if you're a fan of such commercials, you'll be happy to learn that Butler will continue to spearhead these TV ads throughout 2010. According to an IGN interview with PlayStation Network director Peter Dille, Butler will be coming back and Sony is quite pleased with how everyone has responded to the campaign. Said Dille:
"It's been tremendously successful. Consumers love it. It's great to hear people like you guys love it. And the results are really in the sales because it's really been flying since this coincided in September with the launch of the new PS3."
He further commented that we "can expect to see Kevin Butler inject a lot of life into the PlayStation brand between now and the rest of the year." Not surprisingly, they'll roll out a few new ads when that highly anticipated motion controller comes out this fall, and we wouldn't be surprised to see some mini Butler comedies focusing on PS3 exclusives like God of War III and Gran Turismo 5. We've been seeing that MAG commercial a lot lately. So anyway, it seems we've got our spokesperson for a while longer.
