Fireteam Bravo 3 For PSP Maneuvers Into Stores Today

If you need your portable military fix, head on down to the store today and nab yourself the third iteration in a critically acclaimed franchise.

SCEA has announced the release of SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3, developed by Slant Six Games and offering all new ways for players to interact in-game. As part of a 4-man fireteam, you will be responsible for planning and executing complex tactical strategies in the field, ranging from quiet stealth to all-out action maneuvers. And for the first time in the series, you can experience the fun of four-player co-op; it's always more fun to go into battle with friends, right? Fireteam Bravo 3 gets an extra dose of authenticity by boasting the support of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Command, and it includes "a robust single-player campaign with nine customizable campaign missions and a number of new gameplay features." Those features have been talked about in previews; there's the free-look camera mode, regenerating health, and intelligent cover systems. The latter lets you crouch behind objects "and intelligently adjust to the environment to peek over objects and lock on to enemies without being exposed." Oh, and of course, you've got a full command system at your disposal. Said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Product Marketing at SCEA:

"SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 provides the classic SOCOM gameplay and authenticity fans have come to expect from the franchise. Utilizing the full functionality of the PSP platform, SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3 delivers a high-quality console experience with rich visual graphics and robust new gameplay features never before seen on the handheld device. Whether playing through the single-player campaign or engaging a fireteam of friends with the brand new co-op mode, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 provides authentic military action players of all skill level are sure to enjoy."

By snagging this one, you're signing up for 16-player competitive multiplayer and 5 classic and objective-based game modes across 8 diverse custom maps. You can connect with other players for competitive or co-op fun via Ad-Hoc or Infrastructure, and with more than 70 weapons and attachments with which to customize your characters, there's almost no end to the depth. Heck, you can even "adjust the scopes, add silencers or mount under or over the barrel attachments to provide extra flexibility in battle." What more can you ask for?

After the mess that Slant six made of releasing SOCOM: Confrontation, let's hope that they've figured it out for this PSP installment. That being said, a year and a half later, Confrontation is still one of the most solid shooters online, now that most of the bugs are worked out.

so now can we please have socom back where it belongs?
SOCOM 2 was one of my most played games on the ps2.
id like to see another SWAT game too, or something along the lines of that.
SWAT was a fantastic game, rushing buildings handcuffing civilians, blowing down doors killing baddies inside.
one of the best games, and one of the most deserted genres.
Dead to Rights: Retribution is one game im really looking forward too, shame there has not been much coverage on it.
