Peace Walker Mixes Up With Monster Hunter, Front Mission
So apparently, Kojima's Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker wants to include facets from at least three other games and franchises...purely for the sake of fanservice, we presume.
Through various sources, Konami has confirmed that Peace Walker will collaborate with recognizable titles from Capcom, Ubisoft and Square-Enix. Believe it or not, you will actually embark on monster hunts ala Monster Hunter; four-player missions will charge you with taking down Tigrex, Rathalos, Velociprey and other such fantastical beasts that normally would have no place in a MGS installment. Heck, you'll even get "monster meat" after completing one of these battles, and Airu the cat will jump into a brief supporting role, too. As for Ubisoft, you probably know about the assassin's leap of faith from an eagle's perch in Assassin's Creed; well, Snake will be able to do the same thing from certain buildings in Peace Walker. Last but not least, the game will pay homage to Square-Enix's Front Mission Evolved: parts from the mechs in that game will appear in Snake's adventure as in-game items. They're usable, but we're not exactly sure how just yet... Furthermore, Square-Enix and Konami have revealed six Play Arts figurines:
- Play Arts Kai Snake Sneaking Suits Version (June)
- Play Arts Kai Vol. 2 Pupa (Summer)
- Play Arts Kai Vol. 2 Chrysalis (Summer)
- Play Arts Kai Vol. 2 Basilisk (Summer)
- Play Arts Kai Vol. 3 Snake Army Fatigues Version (Summer to Fall)
- Play Arts Kai Vol. 3 Cocoon (Summer to Fall)
Let's see, is there anything else? Oh yes, promotional partners- during your new quest, Snake will be able to grab Pepsi, Mountain Dew and even bags of Doritos; obtaining promo codes from such products will unlock more items. So yeah, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, set to launch on April 26 in Japan and on June 8 in the US, encompasses all sorts of stuff.

You know, that review was desperate. It's like they decided ahead of time that they had to review the game as if it was a poor attempt at virtual porn. It's like "We're desperate to appear superior by disnmissing this game as poor, perverted drivel.".
The thing is that in their haste to dismiss it, and anyone that plays it, I think they utterly missed the point of the game and in doing so projected their own lack of fulfillment onto the makers of the game and anyone playing it. Very sad indeed.
Here is where I think they, and many western reviewers, will go horribly wrong with this piece of software. DOA Paradise is not meant to be a game. It's not a traditional video game like Ratchet and Clank, Killzone, Uncharted, Soul Calibur, Tekken, Call of Duty, Gran Turismo or any other traditional game. DOA Paradise is leisure software that is intended to do nothing more, or less than distract you with pretty images. It's supposed to relax you, not get you whipped into a frenzy.
Most reviewers will not get this and will merely see this as some kind of poor, degenerate, digital porn. They'll pour scorn on anyone daring to use it. Whatever.
See the thing is I play in Home a lot, and if you've ever been to the IREM Seaside space, or the Mui Mui ship (or many of the other interesting spaces) you will know what I'm about to say. In those spaces you'll see a lot of female avatars running around in bikinis and other outfits that wouldn't look out of place in DOA Paradise. Many, perhaps even the majority, of hose avatars could be female players. But, you know what, it doesn't matter. Just as it doesn't mater whether the Aliens and Predators wandering around are male or female. People don't use Home to gain sexual gratification (well, perhaps a small number of very sad people do), and they sure won't use DOA Paradise for that either.
But the thing is people still play Home and go to these locations, to play stupid games, relax and waste time (some of the same reasons we go to a real beach). In Home you can take pictures, swap wardrobe at the drop of a hat, you can play silly games and run around in a bikini all day long. How does that differ from DOA Paradise? It really doesn't.
So, the reviews will be crap because no one will want to be seen giving this game a decent review (whether or not it deserves it), just in case someone labels them a perv. In reality, the point of the game is simple, stupid, mindless fun, mini-games, relaxation and generally messing around and wasting time. It's just that DOA Paradise does it in a way that our post millennial puritanical society frowns upon.

People are reviewing it as a $30 video game because that's what it has been released as and apparently comes up short, not because they're having a blast and thinking they'll be criticised for being honest.

It may well be a terrible gaming product, I don't know. But I know a review written with a predetermined attitude and agenda when I read one. And this game will get a lot of those, whether it deserves poor reviews or not. I'm not so much defending the game as ranting against reviews written with an agenda in mind.

Peace Walker Soundtrack "PAZ See Through Jacket." Mystery Now Solved
Kojima Production's blog teased the cover of Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker's maxi single, called "Heavens Divide/Love Deterrent"
The first print run promised featuring something called "Paz See Through Jacket" for its cover, but refused to say what was up with that.
Well, the cat's now out of the bag for this too.....or should I say, Paz is now out of her Jacket & showing off her shoulders in a cute lacy bra.

Anyways, this news makes me want both this game and Monster Hunter Tri. I mean $45 on amazon plus a $10 credit is pretty damn good no?
