Konami Working On Mysterious Silent Hill Installment
It's one of the freakiest, most successful survival/horror franchises in existence and now, it appears we'll finally get another installment.
Unfortunately, we know next to nothing about it. Konami apparently confirmed to Gamer.nl that they are currently working on a new Silent Hill. But besides knowing that it isn't being developed by Silent Hill: Homecoming studio Double Helix, we're really in the dark when it comes to details. We're not even sure which platform they're targeting although of course we're hoping for a PlayStation 3 release. Homecoming was decent but it lacked in a few areas and wasn't quite the experience we had been hoping for. This time around, we want a game that takes full advantage of the powerful new hardware, launches freakish frights at us from the intimidating shadows and above all else, maintains that Hitchcock-ian subtlety when it comes to instilling fear in the player. This series has always been about ambient effects; about always feeling uneasy regardless of the situation. You're always on edge. This is what we want from the new Silent Hill.
And now that it's apparently in the works, we'll start keeping an eye out for any information. Perhaps it'll be unveiled at E3...
