Peace Walker: 2 Hours, 42 Minutes Of Cut-Scenes
The Metal Gear Solid franchise has always placed heavy emphasis on storyline, which is why there are so many lengthy cut-scenes.
And although they toned it down a little for the upcoming handheld iteration, you'll still see plenty of plot-driven movies, and we're willing to bet they'll be plenty engaging (Hideo Kojima and Co. were behind them, after all). In total, according to Examiner.com citing the British Board of Film Classification, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will boast 162 minutes and 34 seconds of "linear elements;" i.e., cut-scenes or movies. This may sound like a lot - over 2 hours, 42 minutes - but it can't compare to recent MGS installments on consoles. Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence clocked in at 216 minutes and 34 seconds and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots loaded up an amazing 545 minutes and 47 seconds. Personally, I really don't remember there being around seven and a half hours of movies in MGS4 but maybe that's one of the reasons the game was so masterful...everything just gelled so beautifully, and the story was so good. Of course, we're expecting more greatness from Peace Walker, even if it can't, by rule, be as technologically advanced as MGS4.
Anyway, in case you've forgotten, the game will be out in North America on June 8. If you're a true fan of the series, you won't pass it up.

That being said, I own every single Metal Gear Solid game on the PS1, PS2 and PS3 (every version of every copy, too). Hell, I even bought a Gamecube just for The Twin Snakes. I had Portable Ops and Portable Ops+ on my original PSP but I didn't really care for them. This game, though, is actually from the main man himself, Hideo Kojima. I'm totally torn on what to do. I know if I re-buy a PSP, I'll play though Peace Walker and then never touch it again. Decisions, decisions...

Don't get me wrong, over two and-a-half hours of cutscenes is mighty impressive (especially on a portable platform), it just SEEMS disappointing to me personally because 'Metal Gear' cutscenes are done so well that I look forward to them in each installment.
Still, they've exceeded my expectations with virtually every new video they've released of the game, so I expect the cutscenes (whatever the length) to be as top-notch as the rest of this sure-to-be-stellar release.

i dont know about you people but i like to PLAY my games not WATCH them!
i appreciate the story in MGS games, but for crying out loud why do we need such long, and so many cut scenes?
assassins creed has the best storyline by far, bar NONE! and it has barley any cut scenes!
and what it does have are extremely short.
