Peace Walker Clocks In At 30-40 Hours
Considering the fact that game length is always such a hot topic these days, we figure this news deserves a headline of its own.
We know that Famitsu has awarded a perfect score to Kojima's latest portable offering, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which probably isn't all that surprising. We're well aware of the stellar track record of these particular game designers, and the master rarely lets us down. But perhaps one of the reasons the game scored four perfect 10s is because there's just so much stealth/action goodness. As multiple sources have already reported, the story campaign in Peace Walker ranges between 30 and 40 hours. ...now, that's a little out of whack, considering that MGS4 - another game that scored a perfect 40 from Famitsu - was nowhere near that long. But then again, Kojima has long since said that this handheld iteration could very easily be dubbed "Metal Gear Solid 5," so it's no big shock that he poured a lot of effort into this installment. At the same time, it's still only a PSP title and we didn't really expect the game to offer RPG-length hours. Not that we're complaining, or anything.
So is this more incentive, or were you already planning to pick up the game? And would it have mattered if it was only 6-8 hours instead of 30-40 hours?

Sad and disappointed.
Allow me to rephrase what you just posted: "This game is 30-40 hours long with several of those hours being devoted to the story in a saga which boasts a long line of masterfully composed plotlines? What a crock, you can count me out!

ive always been a firm believer of less is more, quality over quantity but this 5 hour game length BS lately is really pissing me off!
splinter cell conviction and army of two the 40th day are 2 of the best games ive played this gen, and both are maximum 6 hours long!
length for games should be a absolute minimum of 10 hours, no less than 10!
120 bucks for 5 hours of entertainment, no matter how good it was is a complete utter rip off!
developers will probably use the excuse that they did not have time, like ubisoft did with conviction in regards to not having the move bodies ability.
im sorry, 4 years is not enough to slot that in?
really?
come on ubisoft, honestly what the &^%$ did yous do in those 4 years?
developers probably would use that excuse but i bet 50 bucks that if a new law released saying games less than 5 hours were not allowed to have a RRP of over 50 AUD than they would quickly add more in the same development time.
its just laziness, pure utter laziness!!!!

i like the feeling of a tight story, where things are happening. 30+ hours of gameplay in a mgs type of game makes me think we'll be doing a lot of repetitive tasks with little plot advancement.
honestly if it were any other game in any other franchise i'd start to wonder if this was a day one purchase or not
