White Knight Chronicles PSP-Bound
With White Knight Chronicles 2 hitting Japan in July, it's not surprising to see the game dominate the latest Famitsu issue.
However, what might surprise you is the revelation that an entirely new entry in the series is set to go portable on the PSP. Right now, it has a "placeholder name of 'Shirokishi Monogatari: New Project,'" which is basically Japanese for "White Knight Chronicles." Handheld owners will also see a bit of a change in terms of story and - perhaps - gameplay, likely due to the inherent limitations of the PSP. Here's a quick explanation from the translated article via Andriasang:
"Leonard's story approaches a conclusion in White Knight Chronicles 2. This signals the end to the 10,000 year war between light and dark, known as the Dogma War. The PlayStation 3 White Knight Chronicles comes to a conclusion here. However, a completely new White Knight Chronicles starts.
White Knight Chronicles New Project. A story of your avatar and new allies, told on the PlayStation Portable, is set to start in 2011."
Then it hints at "major changes" and reads, "and then, to a new world." Level-5 is obviously satisfied with the success of WKC, especially in Japan, so perhaps this isn't surprising. However, considering the size of such an RPG, it must be an interesting endeavor to transfer it to the PSP. Either way, it's good to see gamers on the go getting their RPG love from a quality developer. These guys know what they're doing.

It's a good thing the WKC save data isn't locked or I would be forced to play the first game again in order to get to the new stuff.

It's possible that they are taking WKC to another direction as the original story ends with WKC2. The PSP game looks like it'll feature a new cast and new story. Anyway, I do hope that the game would be great. PSP is great for traditional RPGs, and this would be a very welcome addition.

with that said though why does almost every PSP exclusive have to be a remake of a ps3 exclusive?
come on sony if you want to compete with the iphone 4 and nintendo 3DS than your going to have to do a sh*t load better than that!
who is going to pay 300 AUD for a system + 100 bucks for a game they already probably played on the ps3?
the PSP exclusives lineup is so abysmal its starting to make the 360s lineup look amazing!
what do the psp and 360 have in common?
1 serious piracy issues.
2 very few games worth owning them for!

God of War: Chains of Olympus and the upcoming Ghost of Sparta are games you won't get on the PS3. This game is not the same White Knight Chronicles game on the PS3. You can also count the next iteration of Valkyria Chronicle on that list, and I am sure that there are others out there that I don't need to mention anymore.
And lastly, there are lots of PSP games that are worth owning the system for. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is one of the best examples of that. The Patapon series have given me tons of playing time on the PSP as well. I'd rather play those games as opposed to most of the games that are out for the iPhone.
And yes, those are just the games. I also would rather watch videos on my PSP's large screen than on my mobile phone's 3-incher. The PSP is not as terrible as some people are making it out to be.

how about reading the whole post next time instead of reading the first 2 words.
the very few amount of games that are not remakes of ps3 exclusives are sequels to once ps3 exclusives.
MGS peace walker for example.
almost every single game on PSP i can have the exact same experience on my ps3.
why would i spend 300 AUD on a psp to have the same experience i could have on my ps3?

I will be adding this to my collection once available.
I was thinking about buying a PSP-3000 but rumor has it, Sony is going to release a PSP-4000 before the year is out. Anyone know how credible this is? Apparently some Japanese retailers are listing it now.
