ESRB Rates Mystery Twisted Metal For PS3 And PSP

It was Sony's final, crowd-pleasing announcement at E3: David Jaffe and Co. at Eat Sleep Play are working on a new Twisted Metal for the PS3.

But the franchise may be set to return to the PSP as well. According to Examiner.com citing a new listing at the ESRB, there's a mysterious "Twisted Metal" game set for both the PS3 and PSP. As far as we know, the guys at Eat Sleep Play aren't planning to bring their new product to the world of handheld gaming, and the last TM title on the PSP was Head-On, which released back in 2005. Of course, there is the possibility that the original game, which came out way back in 1995 for the PlayStation, might be coming to the Network as a PS1 classic. This explanation probably makes the most sense, even though we already have the superior TM2 on the PSN. Then again, we suppose it's possible that a PSP iteration of the new project could arrive; the team has never talked about it, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. Or, it could be a special downloadable title of some kind that acts as a fun complement to the new TM. Who knows?

It's something we'll have to watch, at any rate. Anything with "Twisted Metal" in the title is worthy of our attention, no?

I'm pretty sure it's just the original Twisted Metal finally getting its release as a PS1 classic on the PSN.

I say it only makes sense that this'd be the first TM game as a PS1 Classic.

Makes you wonder why they released the 2nd before the 1st one. Sure it's the better game in all areas but it seems odd.

They did the same thing with Syphon Filter. They released the first and then the third and skipped the second. It really makes no bloody sense.

Dont bend your mind trying to figure out the reasoning of the release order of these PS1 classics guys.
My guess is that since they were developing the PS3 version they wanted to wait on the original. It makes a good sales pitch.

Coming soon the one that started it all Twisted Metal Classic on PSN!

The PS1 classic makes most sense to me. It's been missing on the PSN for longer than it should have been.

Yeah I'm agreeing with most of you guys It will be a PS1 classic, but my second guess will be that TM will also be released on the new PSP

Isn't there already a TM classic, I thought I seen one on PSN... maybe not?

PS1 classic makes more sense, particularly as we really haven't the faintest idea of a release date for the new project. But then, Sony seems to be making a habit of taking their big name franchises onto the PSP wherever possible, LBP, ModNation, GoW, Resistance. I'm surprised we haven't seen a portable Uncharted yet, maybe it'll be a PSP2 launch title. Eh, tangential.
Peace.

That would be unfair, as I obviously refuse to pay console prices for handhelds.

@LV. Portable Uncharted would be sweet. But it would have to be GOW: Chains of Olympus/Ghost of Sparta level quality. We have been spoiled by Naughty Dogs!

I question your inquiry Ben. Was it not you who kept TM for PS3 a secret from us for you know...like forever?
We need to know where your loyalties lie Ben. With us.. Your loyal readers.. Or with Mr. Jaffe? If he is even involved with a PSP project that is.

David Jaffe posted this on his twitter today "@nino1911 There is no Twisted PSP game unless Sony is doing one and they have not told us, which would surprise me tons."

so, david did not accidentally show you this one early?
;)
if i remember right david did express interest in doing a PSN twisted metal game, something small like dead rising 2 case zero.
would be cool, get a little prequel to the game coming next year.
wish more games would do this, gives us a good taste of whats to come.
demos are useless, you cant judge a game from 5 minutes of gameplay!
