PSP Still Tops In Japan, 3rd Birthday Debuts In Top 10
The PSP continues to sit atop the Japanese hardware charts for another week, thanks to the overwhelmingly popular Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.
The latest iteration sold another 404,000 units in the last week of December, bringing the overall total to a mammoth 3,560,000...and that's in only one month's time, as the game released in Japan on December 1. You can find the weekly results for both hardware and software at Andriasang and as you can see, the PSP continues to reign supreme. The highly anticipated Square-Enix production, The 3rd Birthday, debuted at #6 on the charts, coming in at 140,000 units while the Pokemon phenomenon is alive and well: Pokemon Black & White for the DS will soon break 5 million sold. But we prefer to focus on Aya Brea's return because the developers have hinted that if the PSP iteration is a success, there's a chance Parasite Eve could return to consoles... That would be happy news for those who fondly recall the first two entries on the original PlayStation, and who had hoped to see Aya grace a next-gen console at some point.
Well, we'll probably have to do our part when The 3rd Birthday arrives in the US. So if you want to see the franchise on the PS3, it might be in your best interest to purchase the portable effort...

PS. Oh, you were initially talking about Parasite Eve... I had MH in mind. Sorry for the confusion.

Japan is it's own world, I have been there many times... if good Japanese titles come out for Japanese players... the PSP will have long long legs yet.
