Rumor: PlayStation Phone Reviewed, Full Specs Leaked
Well, it's your weekly - ...er...daily? - PlayStation Phone update, and this one is courtesy of a Chinese website, which apparently got their hands on the intriguing new mobile unit.
As Kotaku reports, it's actually a review of sorts, and it boasts a lot of pertinent technical information. This means the final specs might actually be as follows: a 1GHz Snapdragon QSD8255 processor and Qualcomm Adreno 205 GPU, which gives the phone a frames-per-second count of nearly 60. It boasts 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, and slots for a microSD card, SIM card and micro USB cable. The phone can produce 854 x 480 resolution on its 4-inch screen, and there's a 5 megapixel camera. ...whew. Maybe a few of our more technically savvy members can translate all that for the number-impaired. Anyway, perhaps the coolest part is that games will be launched via the "PlayStation Pocket" application. The unit is automatically in "phone" mode but once you enable the aforementioned app, the display changes and you'll see Sony's trademark XMB, which would sorta make it look like the PSP.
Yeah, sounds pretty damn sweet. Maybe we'll have to petition Sony for one, just so we can do a little review of our own. ...sadly, I am so not qualified to review freakin' phones. Mine's over 5 years old and I really don't care. ;)

It's running the Android OS right? I wonder if it will come with Android 3.0 (Gingerbread).
I am due up for an upgrade pretty soon. I wonder if it will be available on the Verizon network.
Oh geez, so many questions. I love phone gadgetry. I might finally enter the world of portable Playstation gaming after all.

my only concern is storage space, it says in the specs 512mb rom, so if its running stock gingerbread, will leave around 200mb of internal storage space, so i duno how its going to be a gaming phone with only 200mb of internal storage?
Bar that love everything else about the phone and its probaly worth it just for all the old school emulators on android.

Then again it's a matter of perspective. From the perspective of an original Droid owner, this will have at least 75% more performance, and with the PlayStation connectivity, additional functionality will help out as well. Still, I'd have personally hoped for a more powerful CPU, perhaps a lower clock with dual cores.

If this ps phone doesn't offer dual cores north of 1.5 ghz and at least 2x the RAM, it'll fail to be anything more than an android with an poorly themed control pad (almost reminds me of an snes controller and why are the colors Mismatched?). I can't comment on the graphics, although I can honestly say I'm not impressed with cellphone graphics. They're cool, but not worth the effort.

The rest of the specs were "alright" but nothing out of the ordinary for an upcoming, not-yet-released device (in my opinion).
What's left now is the really big question: The price...

The Xperia X10 uses the QSD8250 which is an earlier version of the QSD8255, but the phone itself features a better camera. You can bet that the overall features set of the X10 will not be much different to this, apart from the gaming element, and the camera.

The X10 mini has a 5MP camera, which sounds suspiciously like the one in the....whatever this PlayStation Phone is called.

Though it must be said that the number of mp says nothing about the picture quality, only the dimensions of whatever picture it produce. So let's cross fingers and hope that they've put a better lense (who I suspect is the main problem) and image chips on this ps-phone.

Oh I've seen my share of poor phone cams. As working in the media I get a lot of phones as sponsor item (by Sone Ericsson!), so I've been pretty spoiled those last 6-7 years.
There was ONE phone that really, really impressed me. It was actually so good that I could take a majority of my holiday pics with it. That was the "James Bond" phone way back. I can't remember the name of it now, but it was in the K-series with "cybershot". That camera produces *amazing* pics @3.2 mp. The depth, the colour tones, absolutely magnificent.

...hmmm, have to say, looking at the high resolution images of the device it does seem spiffy no doubt... It looks well made, with a lovely shine to it. Could actually end up being quite a good machine for a great many people...

first the PS3 getting CFW, than the PSP GO getting CFW, now supposed tech info on the PSP Phone.
sony just cant tighten those leaky pipes can they?
though those specs have to be wrong.
i was expecting something along the iphone 4 spec, but the iphone 4 would eat that for breaky!
sonys best chance of breaking into the mobile market is release something that makes every other phone look 10 years old.
releasing with this thing would be a death sentence!

It's now confirmed that said Xperia-branded device is powered by a Qualcomm Adreno 205 GPU, along with what's likely to be a 1GHz Snapdragon QSD8255 as featured on the HTC Desire HD.
Interestingly, Neocore is reporting an impressive 59.1fps benchmark, which is a huge improvement from our exclusive look back in early December. Quadrant also reports a high score of 1,733, but hey, there's no saying that this is the final build, so the graphics performance may get even better.
Other tidbits found in the latest leak include the generous battery capacity of 1,500mAh, the 854 x 480 resolution on a 4-inch LCD, a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash sans 720p video recording (although it's probably just that the leaksters didn't look in all the submenu in the camera app), 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, a microSD slot, SIM slot, micro-USB, and a second mic on the back for active noise cancellation à la Nexus One.
More here....

Now i got this playstation phone being thrown in my face and im thoroughly interested in it! My new found enjoyment with these phones has screwed me over, as i knew it would! Ahh well.
So i guess the big thing is what provider(s) will be carrying these phones? I have att now and am in no hurry to cancel with them for a new provider, over this phone. Although its tempting!
