PSXE Poll Update: PlayStation Fans Split On PS Phone
We figured this would end up being inconclusive. But we do have to consider that we don't have the finalized specs just yet, and we also don't have a price.
Our recent poll asked readers if they were interested in the new PlayStation Phone, and it's basically split down the middle: while about half say they're at least somewhat intrigued by the idea, the other half doesn't have it high on the priority list. The rumors have been flying for the past few months and while the unit's arrival is inevitable, the question is whether or not PlayStation followers will be in line to pick it up. Unfortunately, the specs - which certainly haven't been confirmed - don't appear to be all that special; it actually seems more like a low-end phone. Then again, we can't trust one overseas source on this matter, and we'll really have to wait until the phone is unveiled at next month's show in Barcelona. Only then will we be able to judge.
This month, we want to know if you're interested in another new addition to the PlayStation universe: Mass Effect 2. It's finally arriving on Sony's machine with all the current DLC (and it utilizes the new ME3 engine), but as the franchise was only on the 360 and PC thus far, Sony followers may have missed out. This might cause a bit of a barrier, especially considering that ME2 is now a year old; maybe most will just wait for ME3 before jumping on board. What do you say?

It's hardly that black and white, lol.
1 option for yes
1 for maybe
1 no because you don't like it
1 no because you played it on 360.
Basically, there's only 1 answer that allows you to say you don't like it. The last one clearly indicates you're not the type of person to invest twice into the same game (and rightly so). Chances are if you have a 360, you probably have Mass Effect 2.
So for those two, it's a good idea to have the two alternatives.
Maybe is a necessary one for lots of reasons, the best one being the fact that there are SO SO SO many top notch PS3 AAA titles coming out this year. Chances are, most of us can't invest in all the exclusives, let alone a game that's already been out on another system for a year. Perhaps others are waiting for reviews or maybe they're holding out to see the differences between the PS3 and 360 versions. There are lots of reasons for maybe, so it's a great option.
And obviously, 'yes' is necessary. They aren't going to put in 2 yes answers... What will it read? "Yes, because it'll be freakin' sweet" and "Yes, because all my friends say I should"? There's no reason for 2 yes answers.

They should put the ME2 game on discount $30-$40 right from the start. Star Ocean 4 went on sale on Xbox to $20 in 6 months. 1-year after the PS3 release, it's still $50-60. This makes no sense.

Weren't you going on a month back or so about how incredible the blueish explosions were in KZ3 beta? You were freakin' out about how incredible it looked, then went on about how they'd better not screw it up like they usually do. (Your words, not mine)
You don't have to like KZ2, but you REALLY can't expect people to agree with you about it being a poor production... espeically when you were freaking out about KZ3 beta a while back.

Well, Forza 3 sure as heck got a 92 by accident =p
Actually, more like GT5 getting a 84 (Forza 3 was great until GT5 released)
THen again, I suspect GT5's score wasn't by accident. Maybe even a calculated effort by haters. Haters spawned from hell 0_0
RARR! NINJA TIME!!
PS not that I mind ME2 having a 96%. That's okay by me, I don't know if I'd had taken interest if it wasn't for the series reputation in the first place ;)

Yeah, with GT5 scoring as it did in comparison to Forza 3, it's hard to take most critics seriously. There are far to many wannabe critics that get their scores included by metacritic. lol
@the others
I voted maybe. That style of game isn't typically my thing. I haven't even really given Fallout 3 much of a chance yet. (Although I picked it up bargain bin and will get to it eventually)
So for me, I don't see how I'll be interested in another FPS rpg. But with the critical acclaim it's gotten, I am curious. Hence the maybe instead of the 'no'. If it turns out the port is shoddy and it's of lower quality to 360, then it's a definite no with so many AAA PS3 exclusives coming out this year.
Fact of the matter is, you gotta be choosy with your titles this year. No matter what I end up picking up, there's no way I'll be able to buy every game I want to buy this coming year. So even if ME2 is a definite YES, with so many other definite YES's on my list, it isn't so definite. Thing is, I gotta trim down my definite yes list...
Which makes me a sad panda...

(it's still all Greek to me though, LOL)
Engadget has posted more on the specs on this phone.
It's now confirmed that said Xperia-branded device is powered by a Qualcomm Adreno 205 GPU, along with what's likely to be a 1GHz Snapdragon QSD8255 as featured on the HTC Desire HD.
Interestingly, Neocore is reporting an impressive 59.1fps benchmark, which is a huge improvement from our exclusive look back in early December. Quadrant also reports a high score of 1,733, but hey, there's no saying that this is the final build, so the graphics performance may get even better.
Other tidbits found in the latest leak include the generous battery capacity of 1,500mAh, the 854 x 480 resolution on a 4-inch LCD, a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash sans 720p video recording (although it's probably just that the leaksters didn't look in all the submenu in the camera app), 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, a microSD slot, SIM slot, micro-USB, and a second mic on the back for active noise cancellation à la Nexus One.
More here....

ME2... eh. I'm not sure about this game. I have never liked any game I played on the Xbox, will there really be that much of a difference in gameplay?
Well saying that it is going to be ran by the ME3 engine and have all the DLC, It might make a difference, plus it most run a lot smoother and have better graphics.
now that ME2 and ME3 is coming to the PS3, They have too five us the original ME somehow, right? us PS owners who have not played this series are behind.
How about them Seahawks!!!

And speaking of ME2, I would love to have it but I simply dont have the time, and have a sizable backlog of AAA games. Hell I bought assassins creed brotherhood on sale on Amazon a few weeks ago and I havent had the time to play it with gt5 in my house!

Don't let this scare away prospective buyers, though. I'm sure there's plenty to enjoy for newcomers. And they'll be dialed in for ME3 and any other possible future installments as well. Who knows? Maybe in 10 years there'll be a Mass Effect 7 where only the hardcores would know that the game began exclusively on 360--where did Final Fantasy begin guys? =)

but going in with those specs?
assuming there correct, is plain suicide!
IF its dirt cheap than maybe 1 or 2 people will get it, but hey this is sony NOTHING they sell is cheap!
there laptops are a good grand more than others with similar or better specs.
if i was to buy a VIO with my toshibas specs i would be looking at over four freaking grand!
my X500 only cost me 2500!
same as there TVs, bravias are a good 500 or so more expensive than samsung or panasonic or even sharp equivalents.
so if they go into the market with those crappy specs and charge roughly the same as what other phone manufactures do there going to sink 1000 times faster than the titanic!
as for ME2 im really looking forward to it!
i only got about half way through ME2 than alan wake and the onslaught of last years games hit so i never got a chance to finish it.
this is the perfect time to finish it, and refresh my memory of ME1 since its been ages since i played it.

The majority of the world arent bothered with specs anymore. Everyone is casual. They dont care if the phone has a 1 million ghz processor, its just a number to them, as long as it sends txts, plays games, runs Android, and has thousands of Apps, the world simply doesn't care one single bit.
We are part of the minority who actually want a GOOD phone, with GOOD specs.

I repeat, SONY ERICSSON!!!
Why do you even think that Apple the biggest phone manufacturer in the world?
Motorola, Samsung, LG and most definitely Nokia are in the fray too.
iPhone is a overrated and it's the only kind of phone Apple is pushing out.

BTW, the original ME was hardly a great "RPG." It was clunkier than necessary in more ways than I care to list. And the changes to ME2 made the experience more focused, and imo, a better game.
