Rumor: Final Fantasy VII HD For PSP2
Heeeeey, guess what we haven't talked about in a while?
We must be masochists because we always cling to the latest Final Fantasy VII remake rumor with stupidly renewed hope. Then again, as a long-time FF fan, I'm not exactly "hopeful" this time; FFVII in brilliant HD would be the remake of my dreams, but on the screen of the NGP (Next Generation Portable)...? Uh... This is the rumor generated by HipHopGamer, and everyone is now talking about the possibility of FFVII HD on the PSP2. Thus far, many fans seem to be both skeptical and annoyed: if Square-Enix really planned to overhaul Cloud's memorable adventure, the die-hard followers are gonna want it on their damn TVs. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if some just flat-out refused to play it on a five-inch screen. I probably wouldn't. This may be the first time I frowned at a FFVII remake rumor...how about you?
Oh, even if you do agree, we're probably in the minority. Evidently, the entire world loves to look at things on tiny screens now.

I would love an HD Yakuza 1 & 2 remake as well.
As for FFVII. Really now? The rumor has resurrected? ...but to be honest...I would love to play FFVII on the NGP. I don't know why but for some reason, I always prefer RPGs on the PSP. For example even though I had Disgaea 1 & 2 on the PS2, I got them again for the PSP. ...sure it had some additions here and there which made it more fun, but again...just for some reason I enjoy playing RPGs on the PSP.
But then again, it is a pretty grandiose game, which would mean it would be better for home console.
I guess perhaps the best solution would be to have it release for the PS3 and Xbox 360 (considering how this generation is going) - and as a bonus for PS3 owners...we have cloud computing capability with the NGP.
Now that would be awesome!

Not going to happen. If I'm going to invest another 60 hours playing FFVII AGAIN, then yeah, it had better be on the big screen in full 1080p.

However if they want it to be a system seller, they might as well wait until the PS4 is announced/released(whenever that will be) as I'm sure devs could make some games excellent enough the generate the desire to purchase an NGP.

I want it done from scratch, Advent Children style. I want the same environments, but redone and viewed from whatever angle I choose with a compass or map to help me out.
Think how amazing they could make a REAL remake look? Think about Nibelheim mountains! Think about Costa del Sol, or Wutai, or flying around in an airship chasing a remade Ultima Weapon! Even the sector 5 slums near Aeris' church... panning a camera around...
If they do it... do it AMAZING. I would be surprised if it didn't sell well.

Actually I'd be pretty miffed if they did this because I'd prefer to purchase the HD FFVII over PSN so I could play it on my TV like Ben says.
If they did an actual remake of the game and put it on PSP2 I'd be super pissed because a real live remake needs to be a massive console production and nothing less.

Put this thing on the PS3 or release it as a launch game when the PS4 comes out, but stop giving us shinier versions of the same game.

Although I do kind of want to see what they could do with a true PS3 remake of the game. Even though I know they'd probably do something stupid and add the FFXIII battle system to it no doubt. =/

It is not running IE6. It is running Netfront. Netfront uses older Scripting technologies pioneered by IE6, but it is not IE6.
It's scripting does indeed contain Mozilla 5.0 references, but that is somewhat misleading as that merely seems to be a cloaked user-agent string. Everything else is blank. The PS3 apparently does not send an HTTP-Accept header to the server. It supports Javascript but will not divulge which version. Finally, it reports no mime types, no plugins, and no Javascript errors.
basically, it is it's own fricked up mess of a browser... outdated from up-to-date scripting... but it's called Netfront and it isn't a modified version of IE6. It just uses similar technology to IE6's java... technology that is no longer supported.

In fact, I think I would prefer and remake for the NGP over the PS3. We already know what Cloud and Co. look like in 1080p.(Advent Children Complete).

I really don't care what it comes out on, all I want to know is that I want to play FFVII. If that means the NGP, then so be it. Of course, I'd much rather see it on the PS3/4, but that's just the way things go. Square Enix has to be working on it... It's the only possible reason for the slow progression on their other games (not really, but I just want it).
Peace.

die, just die already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
were never going to see VII HD, i gave up the dream years ago!
i kinda hope we dont too, because, well knowing what $E are like they will probably try to change it thus destroying it!
yea, i say leave it alone, leave the FF series alone and give us our god dam kingdom hearts 3!
god dam it!

But I'm starting to think that with Duke Nukem Forever maybe seeing the light of day that the FFVII remake is the new long running joke of the gaming industry.
S-E's take on games this gen seems to be, We've screwed up everything we've put our hands on so far, but if you guys will still buy our product, we might give you a FFVII remake, or we might not.
I think the FFVII remake should be referred to now as the DNFFVII until the joke is over..lol

DNF was always suppose to come out, it only got delayed so many times because there were legal issues and they were originally suppose to use the quake 3 engine.
then that was refuted, so they had to redo the game with the UE2 engine, then UE3 came out so they again had to redo the game for that.
FFVII HD on the other hand genuinely will never release, because $E are just too god dam lazy!
they said theres no open world and shops in XIII because it would be "too hard".
so the likelihood of them biting the bullet and actually giving us a VII remake is near 0!
thats why i hate $E, eveything goes in the too hard basket!

3:This is square enix were talking about, they're all about pleasing the fans.......
conclusion, square enix will only think of one way to make a move. we get a remake of final fantasy 7 on the original gameboy....

It would work, besides a 5-inch screen that operates at 1/4 1080p resolution isn't too shabby in terms of resolution. Heck, you could attach via a mini-HDMI and it would look good on a big screen too.

The phone is the Motorola Atrix 4G, and what I think Sony should do is release a $200 accessory for the NGP/PSP2 which is a docking station with a wide screen LCD (something betwen 17 and 21-inches), a keyboard and trackpad for web browsing, wired ethernet, and even a controller interface, so you can use a regular hand held controller to play your games on the bigger screen. A version without the screen, but with a proper HDMI port wouldn't go amiss either. It would make the NGP/PSP2 a true transition device moving into a future where your console can go on the move with you or be played at home.
Here's a link to the Motorola Atrix 4G's secret weapon;

Well... I guess for people that haven't played it because it didn't have upgraded graphics it would be good, but for everyone who has already played it at least twice, why? It's not like the meat of the game is in the graphics, it's the story that makes that game so good.

Believe me, if they could just remake the game on the PS3 looking like Advent Children, same battle system, same story, etc. and released in, let's say, 2014, I'd be waiting with 60 dollars in my hand. It's just not gonna happen though.
An NGP remake makes more sense. Cheaper, more convenient, and follows Square's pattern of remaking Final Fantasy games on handhelds (Final Fantasy 1 & 2 on GBA/PSP, Final Fantasy III on DS, Final Fantasy IV on GBA/DS/PSP, Final Fantasy V & VI on GBA/3DS, etc.) Why not add Final Fantasy VII to the NGP?

Ugh How I agree with that statement :(
Still Ben, if you really want to play an "HD" version of Final Fantasy VII, to get the old PC version. It's been out for years and years, but it's probably as good-looking as any HD remake they're ever likely to make.

At any rate, such an issue is entirely subjective anyways, but I'm willing to be FF7 is most people's favorite FF. It certainly sold the most, as far as I know. (Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure it landed nearly 11 million copies sold prior to the PSN release.) As the most purchased FF, it's not hard to believe it's many people's favorite. For the technology of the time, I definitely consider FF6 to be far more in depth, artistic, and well written in comparison, but that massive jump in technology leaves old fogies like you an' me behind. (Old in gaming terms, anyways.)
At any rate, I personally have a hard time picking my favorite FF. It almost depends on which one I've most recently played or am most longing for. FF6-10 was a golden streak for me, personally, but I very much preferred the battle system of FF5, although the story was lame except for the Galuf incident (just as potent as Aeris, imo), and I identified well with Cecil in FF4. I love the exploration of the first FF, the uniqueness of the battle system of FF2, the freedom to customize in FF3... I think my appreciation for FF5's system REALLY made me like FFT... a far better story than FF5. It's extremely similar battle system and job system coupled with the better story make FFT much better than FF5 for me... and for that reason, I know I can't make FF5 my favorite.
I dunno... they all have their own reason to love them... so inevitably, there really is no way you could ever pick "the best" objectively. It's entirely preference.
That being said, you can hardly fault people loving FF7... the most purchased and best recognized FF.

NGP is the shortcut for them to make the game a bit faster and still sell like crazy...
fingers crossed that it'll make it on the ps3 instead though.
