Tokyo Game Show 2011, NGP Still On Track In Japan
A few days ago, SCEA president Jack Tretton said the recent tragedy in Japan might delay the launch of the NGP in that struggling region.
But a Sony corporate spokesperson told the Dow Jones news service - via the Wall Street Journal - that the problems in Japan will not affect the planned launch of the NGP (Next Generation Portable). The spokesperson flat-out said the Bloomberg report in which Tretton suggests the crisis could affect the NGP was "wrong." However, it was also re-confirmed that Sony's next portable might not arrive in all territories this year; the plan is to release the unit in stages starting at the end of 2011. In addition, other fears relating to this year's Tokyo Game Show have also been quelled: according to Andriasang, TGS 11 is still on track to run from Thursday, September 15 to Sunday, September 18. So the industry continues on and we have no doubt the Japanese people will prevail.
By the way, this year's TGS might be pretty darn interesting. The games that might be on tap could draw droves...
