Rumor: Vita In Japan On November 12, In US By March 31

We know most of the details, we know the price, and we know about a lot of the games.

But we still don't have either a Japanese or Western launch date for the PlayStation Vita. We keep hearing plenty of rumors, though, and the latest comes from French site GamAlive.

A reader (who may or may not speak French), has sent us the link, where we find a November 12 release date for Japan. It also claims that Sony's fancy new portable will be out in the West before March 31, which sounds plausible. This supports other estimates from analysts and journalists; the general consensus is that the Vita will be out in Japan in November or December, and on US store shelves some time during the first quarter of next year. We're hoping to see it sooner rather than later, if only because it's one of the most promising pieces of hardware we've seen.

Hopefully, we'll receive more news this week, although we know Sony doesn't "comment on rumor and speculation." That's no fun, by the way.

If March becomes official I may cease and desist importing a Vita from Japan. Imagine if Sony somehow pulled off a worldwide launch this year with a healthy amount of games. Now that would be amazing. Christmas would belong to Sony.

I'll be kinda sad if the U.S rumor is true. I was hoping more along the lines of late Jan.-mid feb. for U.S release, If we have to wait all the way to late march I'll be really upset lol.

The US date makes sense simply because it's a good bit of time after Christmas; gives people time to get their money right to buy one of these things. And it also falls right in line with income tax returns...which I will definitely be using mine on. Here's hoping that Persona 4: The Golden will find it's way to being a Vita launch game.

Releasing the Vita on March would give me more time to save for the system itself and the games that I'm going to buy alongside it. However, I really want the Vita NOW! LOL I guess I really have no choice but to be patient. Either way, I'm going to buy the Vita the very day it comes out (or whenever it becomes available in my country).

not plausible, DEFINITELY will be out by march 31st!
no way $ony are going to let this miss the end of their financial year!
TGS will reveal all, cant wait to see what the 18 new unannounced vita and 3 unannounced ps3 games are!
hopefully $ony will make up for their abysmal E3 and gamescom showings this year!
though i wont hold my breath, thats exactly what i said about E3 and gamescom and was seriously disappointed so............

I call BS, even though I like the French. Sony should know by now it's a silly idea to have huge gaps between release dates...I hope...

After doing a few seconds research I realise PSP Go was released a month earlier in US & NA before JP... Damn...
