New Suikoden Entry Headed To PSP
It's becoming clearer with every passing day: if you want a traditional role-playing experience, you probably have to turn to portable gaming.
Well, that's assuming the new Suikoden for the PSP will stick with the standard turn-based formula. Konami has finally revealed the next Suikoden installment, which holds the Japanese name Genso Suikoden: Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki; click through the link to find the game's website. Also, they've released a teaser trailer for the upcoming RPG, which is in Japanese but gives you a look at some expected anime cinematography. No gameplay, though.
We really don't know anything else about it right now, but just to hear the name "Suikoden" again gives an old JRPG fan like me goosebumps. Sadly, it isn't being made for the PlayStation 3 but these days, old-school formats and mechanics aren't considered for big budget productions and have been relegated to handheld gaming. It's irritating but at least the traditional stuff isn't dead yet.
Again, though, we're assuming Konami will keep it turn-based. If not...yeah, count me out.
