OutRun 2006 Coming to PS2, PSP
After a couple days of confirmations and denials, Sega of America today officially announced OutRun 2006: Coast to Coast. The game will be released in March 2006 for the PlayStation 2 and PSP.According to the press release, the game will give players tthe chance to drive any of 12 fully licensed Ferrari models, including the all-new F430 and the dazzling Superamerica. Gamers will be able to power their way across 30 stages from the best of the OutRun2 original, and the new OutRun2 SP arcade experience. A new mission structure, a license mode, and online play with up to 6 players round out the list of currently known features.
"Amazing Ferraris, incredible courses, beautiful girls - and all available on Sony's PSP and PlayStation 2," commented Matt Woodley, Creative Director of SEGA. "The only thing you'll be asking for is another go!"
It's not currently known at this time whether both games will be identical, or whether the PSP game will offer different tracks and cars. Our guess is that the two games will at least each have some tracks and cars that the other doesn't, if the below tidbit is any hint.
Also mentioned in the release is the fact that the games will take advantage of the PSP's connectivity with the PSP, allowing players to trade exclusive tracks and cars between the two versions.
OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast is being developed by UK developers, Sumo Digital Ltd, the team responsible for the critically acclaimed OutRun 2.
