Ubisoft Gives Handheld Fans Their Rainbow Fix

The newest Rainbow Six installment was announced earlier this year for the PS3 and Xbox 360 (they scrapped the PS2/Xbox versions), and now the PSP will get a heavy dose of squad-based action.

The story should parallel the next-gen versions, and Ubisoft's Quebec team will attempt to faithfully recreate the fast-paced counter-terrorism intensity for the PSP. One of the more appealing features is the new exclusive content and a brand new cast of characters, not to mention a full boat of multiplayer and online play. There's a ton of new info at the official Rainbow Six Vegas site (Rainbow Six stuff), but here's a brief rundown of some of the cool features for the PSP version-

Observe, Plan, and Assault- Use tactical planning to work through your glitzy Vegas environment, taking advantage of nifty gadgets like the snake cam to mark your targets.

Taking Cover- You can switch from first-person to third-person to gather yourself and get a better view of the situation.

Fresh Targeting/Control System- Designed specifically for the PSP.

Multiplayer- Play with five friends via wireless or take your quest online in Survival and Team Survival.

Although there isn't an exact release date as of yet, they do expect to have the game ready for this holiday season.
