Rockstar Co-Founder Leaves Company

Take-Two Interactive confirmed a few days ago that managing director and co-founder of the Rockstar Games label, Terry Donovan, would not be returning after taking a leave of absence in September, 2006.

Supposedly, despite Donovan's departure, Take-Two is going to continue on "unhindered." Since Donovan's leave of absence, the company has worked to compensate for the loss, assigning many of his duties (like publishing and marketing Rockstar's games) elsewhere. Besides, Take-Two and Rockstar have been busy lately, recently hiring Gary Dale as their new COO.

"Rockstar is a very robust organization and has tremendous depth," the representative told GameSpot. "It has over 600 artists and developers, marketing people... Sam and Dan [Houser, also cofounders and producers of the Grand Theft Auto series] is the leadership now, along with Gary Dale. The roles have been filled."

Although best known for the Grand Theft Auto series, Rockstar has recently added some great games to their repertoire; including, Bully, Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis, and let's not forget the popular Midnight Club arcade racing franchise. We choose to believe Take-Two when they say everything should continue to move along smoothly.
